budget_um Ballot for 2025 Week 9

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 19, 2025, 9:01 a.m.

Rank Team Reason
Indiana Hoosiers Best team in the country for the second week running. Oregon looks better. At some point, at the end of the season, shared H2H will be strong, and we'll be able to see who's better. Until them, I'm taking the team with a Cignature win until someone loses
Ohio State Buckeyes Shutout was dominant, but Wisco is not
Texas A&M Aggies Scare against Arkansas, but a win and a loss at the U bumps them up
Oregon Ducks Only loss is to #1. Not *that* close, but it's #1. Trouncing Rutgers is expected. How they do against USC will decide where they're ranked heading into the CFP
Alabama Crimson Tide Continuing a great ranked win streak. Could be convinced to put them over Oregon, but I expect somewhere throughout the rest of the season something gets clearer up here.
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets HAYNES KING (also, still undefeated)
Georgia Bulldogs Beat Ole Miss, take their place
Vanderbilt Commodores Ditto for LSU
Missouri Tigers Not a pretty win at Auburn, but it's a win, and everybody else lost, so up Mizzou moves
BYU Cougars Win in a ranked Holy War. Still undefeated.
Oklahoma Sooners Back playing how I'd have expected, and this was maybe the SEC's most convincing win over SC so far.
Ole Miss Rebels Georgia moved up, and it was a ranked matchup to begin with. The fall can only be so far.
LSU Tigers Ditto for Vandy
Tennessee Volunteers Not a slide in position (you're not supposed to beat Bama at this point) but a worse-than-expected loss keeps the Vols from moving up even in a ranked loss.
Virginia Cavaliers Hoos keep it rolling. Best in the ACC
Miami Hurricanes Lost to Louisville. Still a good one-loss team with a win over USF, and it was a close game, but you can't be in the top 5 with that loss
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Nice win over a ranked USC team to cap off this rivalry
Texas Tech Red Raiders Losing to unranked ASU is not great, and there's no ranked win to keep the Red Raiders high in the polls. They've looked dominant all year and beat Utah, so there is a floor for how far they slide
USF Bulls Nice win and some shakeups above them bring USF up. Miami loss looks worse, but Memphis is gone from the G5 poll spot; USF takes it. Could Memphis win it back next week? We shall see.
Texas Longhorns What are the Longhorns? I sure don't know. Everybody gets a scare in Lexington once in a while, but they move up mostly because Memphis drops out, not because I understand what they are. But they did beat #11 Oklahoma, and Vandy offers another chance to prove that wasn't a Red River Miracle
Illinois Fighting Illini Illini win the bye by moving up
Utah Utes Slide not just because of the loss but because Texas Tech isn't as impressive a loss anymore either.
USC Trojans Lost about how I'd expect them to lose to ND, given their placement on the list. No movement here.
Cincinnati Bearcats UNLV loses, Nebraska loses, but Cincy dominates a struggling OSU as well as anyone else, so they get the spot
Michigan Wolverines Home Michigan returns, and that team trouncing Washington is enough to keep them ranked. That said, the D finally forcing turnovers isn't enough to suggest this team should be much higher
