JKess207 Ballot for 2025 Week 8

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 13, 2025, 11:59 p.m.

Rank Team Reason
Miami Hurricanes Best team in the country. 2 ranked wins (including a blowout) as well as multiple other P4 wins.
Indiana Hoosiers Win over Oregon is better than any of OSU’s wins. 53-point win over Illinois vs. 18 point for OSU.
Ohio State Buckeyes Nothing more to add; a top 3 team until they show reason to drop them.
Texas A&M Aggies The win @ ND will carry them a long way. Handled MSST and Florida better than others have.
Ole Miss Rebels Alternating between great win and iffy win. Still undefeated with a win over a Top 15 team and a blowout of a G5 contender.
Texas Tech Red Raiders 6-0. Blowing everyone out. Not much more to say.
Oregon Ducks It starts to get a little tricky right around here. I trust Oregon just that much more, even with the loss at home to IU (who has a strong case for the best team in CFB).
Alabama Crimson Tide Loss to FSU looks worse by the week, but road wins against UGA and Missouri overrule that.
Georgia Bulldogs I feel ugly putting them at 9 but I just can’t justify putting anyone else above them.
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 6-0. It’s not a pretty 6-0, but it’s 6-0.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Losses to my #1 and #4 by 4 total points (Miami was 3 points on the road and aTm came down to a missed PAT), and they’ve blown everyone else out. It’s 4-2 but it’s a very good 4-2.
Tennessee Volunteers Haven’t looked convincing since the UGA game, and even then I thought they could’ve put UGA away. The offense is great; the defense, not so much.
BYU Cougars 6-0, but no real statement win. ECU maybe??
Utah Utes Utah has quietly blown out everybody not named Texas Tech. Schedule is a little light, but they look very good.
LSU Tigers I genuinely have no idea where to put LSU. I am very low on them relative to the general consensus. That defense looks very scary, but the offense is just completely untrustworthy. They played Ole Miss close, but none of their P4 wins have truly looked comfortable.
Oklahoma Sooners Another team where I’m just like, “are they good?” They’ve got some good wins, an ok win (Auburn), and a loss that as much as you want to blame Mateer’s injury, maybe there’s some deeper issues here.
USF Bulls Only loss to my #1. Beat Florida in the Swamp. Just demolished UNT. The Bulls need more love.
Vanderbilt Commodores Better win against South Carolina than Missouri, with a slightly worse loss to Bama. I’ll give Vandy the slight edge because none of their wins have been closer than 20.
Memphis Tigers 6-0, Arkansas is the only team who’s even gotten close. USF gets the higher placement for their resume and wins, but Memphis has the dominance to be right there with them.
Missouri Tigers I’ll admit I’m probably a bit harsh on Missouri here. Their only loss is by 3 to Bama. But I’m underwhelmed by their performance against South Carolina, and frankly I think they looked very sloppy against Bama, I don’t think the score reflected how much better Bama was.
USC Trojans USC vs. Nebraska will sort itself out in a few weeks. But for now, USC beat the team that Nebraska lost to.
UNLV Rebels 6-0, electric offense, but that defense terrifies me too much to think about putting them higher.
Nebraska Cornhuskers See USC entry. Win over Cincy is getting better each week.
Cincinnati Bearcats I honestly like Cincinnati’s resume over Nebraska’s, but I can’t justify ranking them over a team that beat them on the road.
Virginia Cavaliers Honestly a bit of a “process of elimination” pick here. I was also considering UW, Illinois, and Navy here, but for a variety of reasons, I like UVA more than each of them. The FSU win doesn’t look as good as it did at the time, but the Louisville win was fantastic to me. Maybe I’m just a sucker for teams that find a way to win even when they’re not at their best.
