SufferingfOrLife Ballot for 2025 Week 8

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 12, 2025, 10:18 a.m.

Overall Rationale: My Updated Rankings and Thoughts As always, this represents my personal take on the rankings. I've made some adjustments, reflecting on the first half of the season rather than simply moving teams based on past performances. Key Considerations: I decided not to rank any two-loss teams at this time, although I did consider several of them. I believe it’s best to observe another week and see more teams accumulate two losses before including them in my rankings. Teams Dropped from My Poll: Michigan: 16 β†’ Unranked Arizona State: 18 β†’ Unranked Iowa State: 20 β†’ Unranked New Teams Added to My Poll: USF: 23 Navy: 24 Cincinnati: 25

Rank Team Reason
Ohio State Buckeyes +1 Still dominating on defense
Miami Hurricanes +1 Bye Week
Indiana Hoosiers +1 huge win over my previous #1 Oregon, as they are a legit contender in the Big 10, and Curt Cignetti is one of the best coaches in CFB.
Oregon Ducks -3 A tough loss against Indiana, but I still believe this is a strong football team that will contend for the Big 10 championship.
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets +2 Look at Georgia Tech still undefeated. Now they won't be ranked this high in many polls, but I am very high on this team, and they continue to win games while those around them fall.
Ole Miss Rebels 0 I'm very confused about this team now because I still love Trinidad Chambliss, but they almost lost to Washington State, so I don't know much else it seems.
Texas A&M Aggies +4 This is my first real shakeup as I move them up to the second-best SEC team, since their defense has been firing on all cylinders in recent games and they remain undefeated.
Texas Tech Red Raiders +2 Best team in the Big 12 as that offseason spending spree has paid off big.
BYU Cougars +3 Nailbiter against Arizona after a lightning delay, as they stay undefeated. Next week will be a very exciting chapter in the Holy War.
Oklahoma Sooners -5 Loss to a rival, which stings since it was pretty clear Mateer wasn't fully healthy, no kidding, but still a bad loss to a rival.
Alabama Crimson Tide - Really good win on the road against Missouri, whom I love, which makes the drop confusing. This is just my shakeup, and they'll probably bounce right back up once other teams lose ahead of them.
Georgia Bulldogs -3 I don't trust this Georgia team, but they have been squeaking by.
LSU Tigers +1 Another SEC team I don't like because their offense sucks, and it's not an easy fix since their entire running game sucks.
Tennessee Volunteers +1 was closer than it should have been but was able to hold off a Arkansas team with a bit of energy with interim Bobby Petrino.
USC Trojans +7 Love this USC offense, and I always enjoy their run game. If this defense had shown up against Illinois, they would probably be in my top 10.
Utah Utes +3 Blowout victory against Arizona State, but Arizona State did have Jeff Sims, so it was expected. Still, this Utah offense is explosive, and I can't wait for the Holy War next week.
Missouri Tigers -4 I mean, if Beau Pribula could be a competent QB, this team would be a legit SEC contender, but for now, they will just lose games like this one against Bama.
Memphis Tigers -1 Bye Week
Washington Huskies +2 Sorry, I didn't watch this game. I watched the Mariners/Tigers game but later saw a replay of it. I only like Washington this year, but Jonah Coleman hasn't been great at running the ball, which worries me.
Vanderbilt Commodores +3 Bye Week
Virginia Cavaliers +3 Bye Week
Louisville Cardinals +3 Bye Week
USF Bulls New: The only loss is to Miami, but they've played great aside from that. Those turnovers in the first half concern me, but if they play like they did in the second half, they'll beat Memphis.
Navy Midshipmen New: big-time 2-point conversion to avoid the upset by Temple. May be premature to rank them, but I believe in Blake Horvath.
Nebraska Cornhuskers New: I wasn't planning to add them initially, but when I had Cincinnati ranked here, I was writing about how they only lost to Nebraska, and I thought Nebraska had the same record. Now, should they be ranked? Maybe, maybe not, as they did lose to Michigan, who I like but has two losses. So, I think the bottom of this ranking will be clearer next week.
