budget_um Ballot for 2025 Week 8

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 12, 2025, 7:52 a.m.

Rank Team Reason
Indiana Hoosiers Best win out of any program in the country against #3 Oregon has them vault into #1. Tests remain which will surely shake this up
Ohio State Buckeyes Another dominant performance shows no reason to move them down, but their wins don't compare to IU
Miami Hurricanes Honestly could be #2, but their ranked win lost to Pitt, so OSU tops them
Texas A&M Aggies Undefeated with a good win. Could be #3 but look slightly less dominant than the U in their victories
Texas Tech Red Raiders Utah win looks better this weeks
Oregon Ducks Looked good, but they did lose. That said, they have the best loss out of anybody and played IU close. Arguably, they should fall further as Penn State proves they were nobody, but they also look less and less like Penn State, so I'm comfortable keeping them in the top 10.
Alabama Crimson Tide FSU loss looks worse, as does the UGA win, but Bama has now won three ranked games in a row, with two on the road. I'll give them credit for that.
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets No signature win but still rolling the ACC.
Ole Miss Rebels Rebs' signature win is a good LSU team, but playing that close to a bad Wazzu team knocks them back a few. A win over UGA could vault them back into the top 5 by proving this week was just a fluke
LSU Tigers Tigers get a nice win over SC. Their real gauntlet begins in earnest next week
Missouri Tigers The other Tigers in the SEC can't fall too far losing to a team that was supposed to beat them by 3. Even at home, I think Mizzou was in about the right spot.
BYU Cougars Undefeated, and Utah's looking better
Georgia Bulldogs Controversial, I'm sure, but this was a bad win. Bumping them to the top 10 after last week's win looks premature, and this game could easily have been a loss. I know the scoreboard says what it does, but UGA looked bad
Tennessee Volunteers Could be 13, but UGA holds the head-to-head, and the Vols didn't look all that much better this week winning by 3 against Arkansas
Oklahoma Sooners I'd bounce them down to the 20s, but Red River is always a little fluky, and Mateer seems unwell. A South Carolina team that it feels everybody else on this list has played should be a good benchmark for where the Sooners belong and if their poor defensive showing is a sign of the team's real worth
Vanderbilt Commodores Get a promotion on a bye as teams around them fall off.
Utah Utes Lost to Texas Tech but keep looking good against their other competition
Virginia Cavaliers That NC State loss is looking more and more like a fluke, and UVA, 2nd in the ACC, stays put for me
Memphis Tigers The South Florida game in two weeks is going to be a thing of beauty.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Rolled NC State. Could move ahead UVA on that alone, but the season is still long
Texas Longhorns What even are the Longhorns? Maybe they'll move higher soon, but there's no real test until Vandy, so back-to-back wins are all but expected
Illinois Fighting Illini Keeps the H2H versus USC despite the extra loss against two top 5 teams
USC Trojans Dominant look against Michigan. Could be legit this year
USF Bulls Knocking off North Texas like that says something about this team. Looking forward to Memphis
Michigan Wolverines Looked lifeless against USC. 2 ranked losses. Could be out, but their win over Nebraska keeps them (just) in the poll. Washington has a chance to drive the stake next week.
