Overall Rationale: 9, 10, 12, 14, and 17 lost this week, which really makes the midranks of the top 25 a mess this week
Rank | Team | Reason |

Beating Florida State places them here, as well as Penn State and Texas being frauds |
2 |
![]() |
On bye, and should probably be sending thank you notes to UCLA and Florida |
3 |
![]() |
They can blame Texas for this, in terms of the actual team my opinion has remained same or slightly better |
4 |
![]() |
Michigan win looks better now |
5 |
![]() |
Unlike Oregon, they have a ranked win |
6 |
![]() |
Similar case to Ohio State, except they get pushed further back by the strength of their opposition being pretty eh. I know I said they are default top 5 last week, but Penn State really screwed it that hard |
7 |
![]() |
Similarish resume to Oregon; undefeated team with several good wins but missing a really standout win, although Houston is a strong point here |
8 |
![]() |
This is about the highest I can see myself placing them, the other 7 teams are all proven enough and undefeated to be worth placing ahead of a team with wins against Georgia and Vanderbilt |
9 |
![]() |
on bye, but they do have Oregon next week. That should be very interesting |
10 |
![]() |
I mean, getting +1 for beating Kentucky decisively is fair without context. The next few teams tbf feel like they benefitted heavily from teams above losing. |
11 |
![]() |
Absolutely won the bye week (+4 due to everyone else around them imploding), losing to Georgia in OT makes this placement fairly reasonable |
12 |
![]() |
The Wisconsin win is good, but the only reason they jump 8 spots is more on passing a bunch of teams that lost or were on bye |
13 |
![]() |
Similar to Michigan, except Louisville would be RV if it exists here |
14 |
![]() |
Another bye week winner |
15 |
![]() |
Also wins the bye week |
16 |
![]() |
Congrats on winning the bye week |
17 |
![]() |
The Nebraska loss in hindsight looks pretty alright, and 4-1 with an Iowa State win is deserving here |
18 |
![]() |
Similar profile to Cincinnati, except I think Nebraska > Miss St. |
19 |
![]() |
Has to go behind Cincinnati on head to head and being 5-1 |
20 |
![]() |
Having the Alabama win and a one score loss to both Miami and Virginia now puts this team in very similar areas with Notre Dame |
21 |
![]() |
Clean win against Boise State, not really too much can be told from this |
22 |
![]() |
This feels a bit much, but their wins aren't really able to justify a top 15 spot and they are similar to Iowa State, placed behind due to Iowa State and Florida State keeping it closer in their losses |
23 |
![]() |
Added another P4 win in West Virginia |
24 |
![]() |
Is still running over their opposition (Tulsa) |
25 |
![]() |
Given that Miami is the #1 team now in this ranking, and the Florida win, and pretty much running over everyone else, I have to give some credit here Next 6: North Texas, Louisville, Illinois, TCU, UNLV, Nebraska |
