redrumsoxLoL Ballot for 2025 Week 5

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 21, 2025, 8:50 p.m.

Rank Team Reason
Ohio State Buckeyes Defending champ and best team in the country so far.
Oregon Ducks The Ducks have looked dominant so far this season, their regular season performance has been incredible with their last regular season defeat coming in October 2023. Massive game against Penn St coming up this weekend
Miami Hurricanes Miami has an extremely good resume so far this season with wins on three quality opponents of Notre Dame, South Florida and now the Florida Gators. Carson Beck has looked very comfortable and in charge of the offense for the Hurricanes
Penn State Nittany Lions We haven't really learned anything about this team that we didn't already think going into the season. As mentioned, they have a huge game against Oregon this weekend that could help us learn something new from this team
Indiana Hoosiers Indiana blew out a (now former) Top 10 team in Illinois this past Saturday, they visit Iowa next week which is always a strange match up and then a bye week before they go on the road to Oregon
Texas Longhorns I have faith in the Longhorns defense who has only given up 31 points all season and going further in their schedule you hope that their offense gained some confidence by putting up 55 points and gaining 607 yards this past week
LSU Tigers There is no concern about the LSU defense, but just like Texas, their offense has not really shown what you want. They will need Nussmeier to step up against Ole Miss this weekend
Georgia Bulldogs We know that Georgia is very good, but we don't know just how good quite yet. We will find out a bit more against Alabama this weekend
Texas A&M Aggies This ranking could come back to bite me, but I have liked how A&M has played so far this season. They don't have the most difficult schedule when it comes to SEC conference play, but still will need to stay focused to stay undefeated
Florida State Seminoles The Seminoles are primarily riding on their victory against Alabama, but that was a good performance and have taken care of business besides that. They play on this upcoming Friday against Virginia in a game they are expected to come out on top.
Texas Tech Red Raiders The Red Raiders have been firing on all cylinders on offense and just took down a good Utah team to get started in Big12 conference play. On paper, Utah could be their best opponent in the regular season, so Texas Tech is in great position to make a run this year
Oklahoma Sooners Two marquee victories against Michigan and Auburn have Oklahoma in the AP Top 10, and near my Top 10. Like a couple other teams, while their defense has looked good, I am not sure if their offense would be able to take down some of the top teams like Ohio St or Oregon
Ole Miss Rebels Ole Miss technically has sole possession of 1st place in the SEC with two in conference victories already. They will need to defeat the LSU Tigers this weekend to stay that way.
Iowa State Cyclones The Cylcones have not dominated any FBS opponents this year, but they are undefeated against quality opponents like Kansas St, Iowa and Arkansas St which is all that matters in the end
Vanderbilt Commodores Somehow when they weren't expected to do it again, Vandy has looked great this season. None of their games have been particularly close so they need to win against Utah St this weekend to be undefeated going into their game @ Alabama
Tennessee Volunteers Tennessee's offense has looked amazing this season, but the defense was the reason they fell to Georgia in Week 3. If that side of the ball can improve, they can truly beat anyone in the country, but if it doesn't, I don't expect the Volunteers to make the playoffs
Alabama Crimson Tide After losing to Florida St in Week 1 the Tide has coasted, They play Georgia this Saturday in one of the biggest games of the weekend.
TCU Horned Frogs TCU is well coached and played a very fun brand of football. For that reason, I am hoping that they have a successful season
Missouri Tigers Mizzou has beaten the teams they have needed to beat so far but have a tough path ahead of them but gets a more forgiving opponent in UMass this Saturday
Michigan Wolverines Michigan is good? I think? I unfortunately haven't been able to watch as much of them as I'd like to, but besides the Oklahoma game, they have taken care of business
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets I am not quite as high on Georgia Tech as the average person, primarily because I believe their marquee win against Clemson isn't as impressive as others might feel. Still, they are undefeated and a contender in the ACC
BYU Cougars BYU's defense has only allowed 16 points total in three games so far. No matter the competition, that is impressive to be that consistent on that side of the ball
USC Trojans USC has looked good so far, and will have a chance to prove themselves further over the next 3 weeks against Illinois, Michigan and Notre Dame
Memphis Tigers The Tigers took down Arkansas last weekend and will now carry that confidence of beating an SEC squad into American conference play
Mississippi State Bulldogs The Bulldogs are much improved this year, starting off 4-0 including their win against defending Big12 champion Arizona St. Tennessee is their next opponent and that will either bring Mississippi St back down to Earth or help them surge into SEC conference play
