Euphoric_Relative_13 Ballot for 2025 Week 5

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 21, 2025, 8:57 a.m.

Rank Team Reason
Ohio State Buckeyes I have these next six teams as the six best teams in the country, and I organized them like this: Ohio State has the best win among them, and has dominated their other opponents (with a little struggle against Ohio)
Oregon Ducks They have absolutely beaten the hell out of everyone they have faced
Miami Hurricanes Has had multiple great wins, including two ranked wins and soundly beat an SEC Florida
Georgia Bulldogs Second-best win among the top 6, but kinda stuggled against FCS Austin Peay
LSU Tigers Their beaten teams look worse and worse every week, similar to Miami, but their well-documented struggle against LA Tech should be taken into consideration
Penn State Nittany Lions They have beaten three teams soundly, but the fact that they didn't demolish any of them means it doesn't prove anything. I kinda want to keep them top 5 so that the next week is a top 5 matchup, but I don't think they have deserved it so far.
Florida State Seminoles The best wins so far include Alabama, which was immediately let back into the top 15 by the AP, and then beat its next two opponents by an average of 65 points.
Indiana Hoosiers Hell yeah, I was right for including them near the top 10 all this time! Don't look at where I ranked Illinois before this.
Oklahoma Sooners They're back, and with two wins over teams that are currently in the top 25 (for now, this is before the release today), they should be a top 10 team.
Texas Tech Red Raiders They have not struggled in a single game so far, and this includes an away game against a very good Utah side.
Texas Longhorns I had them #7 last week, and this is 100% a course-correction, even though Arch Manning just had his first good game of the season. However, the teams above all just had amazing wins over ranked teams (except for FSU), so I view this as a bunch of teams moving ahead.
Iowa State Cyclones They can just stay right here
Texas A&M Aggies They can just stay right here
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Their first game as a ranked team against an inferior opponent, where not only do you have to blow them out, but the country is paying attention. They took care of business, though
Tennessee Volunteers Absolutely shellacked UAB in a get-right game
Ole Miss Rebels I had huge doubts about Ole Miss after their two close wins over lower SEC teams. They looked much better against Tulane. I stand corrected.
Missouri Tigers Beat South Carolina in what might be their second or third biggest rivalry game this season. Depends on where Mizzou fans place Oklahoma and Arkansas.
Vanderbilt Commodores See Georgia Tech, but this was also revenge
BYU Cougars Outside of Indiana, this has been my other huge gamble for a team this season. They haven't proven me wrong yet, but as soon as they do, I will immediately unrank them.
Alabama Crimson Tide Alabama's win over Wisconsin is now comparable to Maryland's win over Wisconsin. AND the Terps did it in a hostile Camp Randall, while Bama won in near 90-degree weather against a team that comes from a place where people are alcoholics so that they can survive the cold weather. Nuff said.
TCU Horned Frogs I resisted ranking the Horned Frogs due to my belief that Bill's UNC team would be straight dogwater, and their blowout win in week 1 was nothing special. I was right about UNC, but TCU now has the Iron Skillet, and I think it has a good shot at winning the XII.
Michigan Wolverines In the battle for which team will be the lowest-ranked B1G team in these rankings and will almost certainly be outside the top 20. Michigan prevailed. Congratulations!
USC Trojans They beat Sparty by enough to not only not have to take the Trojan horse trophy, but also to stay on here.
Memphis Tigers Obligatory G5 team that makes its way onto the top 25, since the earlier G5 team is now gone.
Utah Utes While Tech was the better team, Utah kept it super close until an amazing kickoff in the fourth quarter, and then Tech ran away with it. However, they are on very thin ice, especially since they go to play a pretty bad WVU this week.
