Ballot Type: Computer

Overall Rationale: 2nd order SCF, full challenges run. Took forever, but other than the dubious positioning of UNLV (which is extremely marginal) I am happy with my rankings. My playoff would have UNLV and Army in place of Tennessee and Clemson. The ranking system I use is automated, but requires a lot of manual input of data, so I try to limit the iterations I let it run in. The ranking works by assigning each team both a score and a tier. The tier is simple, based simply on the number of losses. Within a tier, a team gets a score based on ranks and for losses, rank of opponents, Vegas, and W-L upsets. Estimates are also calculated for top performers of each tier to see if they may be better than team in the tier above. W-L takes priority over everything else and creates a phenomena I called adoption, where teams with a HTH in a tier may adopt a team if the opponent who lost has a higher within rank score, creating certain limits. Basically functions like classic inheritance in computer programming. All of this is then optimized through SCF for rank consistency with iteration, though this is rarely to cycle limits. Finally, I occasionally intervene through direct challenges between teams where extended HTH of minimal distance is considered to directly compare teams. Since this is tedious with my current build, I only do so if something appears truly egregious and have time.
Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Oregon Ducks | Still dominant, your B1G champions. Bye in the CFP. |
| Penn State Nittany Lions | Lost to a good Oregon team in admirable fashion. To face #10 SMU in the CFP. |
| Indiana Hoosiers | The Hoosiers battle for the Hoosier state. Travels the highway to South Bend to face #4 Notre Dame. |
| Notre Dame Fighting Irish | The state will burn. Hosts #3 Indiana in a CFP match. |
| Boise State Broncos | On to the playoff with a bye as the three seed, though in my world they would be a two. Your MW champion. |
| UNLV Rebels | Losers don't even get to see the CFP. Instead forced to play a mid Cal team. Bummer. |
| Georgia Bulldogs | Your SEC champs after beating Texas in less overtimes than GT. Bye in the CFP. |
| Texas Longhorns | Losers get to host #21 Clemson in the CFP. |
| Ohio State Buckeyes | Losers get to host #13 Tennessee in the CFP. |
| SMU Mustangs | ACC... losers? A great match, but on to face #2 Penn State in the CFP. |
| Miami Hurricanes | Also probably angry. Don't be overrated I guess. Pop-Tarts Bowl bound against #16 Iowa State. |
| Ole Miss Rebels | Stay angry Lane. I let you successfully challenge above Tennessee, much to my surprise! Gator Bowl bound vs #19 Duke. |
| Tennessee Volunteers | Despite my wishes, playoff bound against #9 Ohio State. |
| Arizona State Sun Devils | The Big XII champ is here! Solid win, on to a bye for the CFP. |
| BYU Cougars | Not even angry, because they knew they would be snubbed. Face #20 Colorado in Alamo Bowl in a weird conference game. |
| Iowa State Cyclones | The big losers. Constant. Pop-Tarts Bowl though baby! (Against #11 Miami (FL)). |
| Army West Point | Your 2024 AAC champions in dominant fashion. Got challenged to hell, but I would put them in the playoff against a three-loss Clemson. Consolation Independence Bowl match against #29 Marshall. |
| Illinois Fighting Illini | The only team to somehow be worse than Army in challenges. Despite challenging to even be this high lol. Citrus Bowl bound vs #24 South Carolina. |
| Duke Blue Devils | Well our QB transferred... not sure what he is thinking. I believe Grayson Loftis or Henry Belin IV can do as good or a better job anyway, especially after our UNC performance last year. Still a difficult match-up against #12 Ole Miss in the Gator Bowl. |
| Colorado Buffaloes | Sorry, Jeanty is better. Clearly, seeing as Boise State is in the playoff because Jeanty, while Colorado is off to a bowl with Hunter. Faces #15 BYU in the Alamo Bowl. |
| Clemson Tigers | Your ACC champs climb back on in after a nailbiter win against #10 SMU. To travel to Texas for CFP. |
| Baylor Bears | Not at all sure how these fools clawed their way in but alright. Despite the fact I believe they are better, I hate Baylor so I hope LSU crushes them in the Texas Bowl. |
| Alabama Crimson Tide | Climbs back in despite crappy performances. Directly limited by Baylor of all teams. ReliaQuest Bowl vs Michigan. |
| South Carolina Gamecocks | See Alabama. Good win over Clemson, so why not a limiter? Conference champion breaks symmetry in tiers of course! Citrus Bowl bound vs #18 Illinois. |
| Missouri Tigers | To my other fellow alum. You happy? Now you can continue acting humble while believing you are better than everyone else. iykyk. (Omissions: #27 Syracuse squeezed out by #26 Memphis, itself failing to be better than Mizzou. Means I added the really weird and unexpected even to me in SOS beast #22 Baylor and always underrated #19 Duke.) |
