Overall Rationale: Wins and losses are weighted by the difference in "rank" between the winner/loser and the median team. Scaled such that beating strong teams matters more than beating weak teams, and losing to bad teams is worse than losing to strong teams. Winning is weighted slightly more than losing. Results are now (as of week 4) scaled by offensive and defensive points per drive efficiencies, and strength of schedule determined by cumulative opponents score. Preseason rankings are weighted by returning production, talent composite, and previous season success. Next five out: Memphis, Duke, Illinois, UNLV, Syracuse

1 Oregon Ducks (+0) Dicey for the Ducks, but hung on for the win with a stout defensive performance on the road at Wisconsin.
2 Texas Longhorns (+1) The Texas offense is certainly not reaching it's full potential, but boasts one of the most efficient defenses in the country.
3 Ohio State Buckeyes (+1) Took care of business against Northwestern.
4 Indiana Hoosiers (-2) Idle. Massive game next week against Ohio State.
5 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (+0) Notre Dame has been methodical in recent weeks. Very interesting match up against Army next. Win and the Irish are almost certainly in the playoff.
6 Penn State Nittany Lions (+0) Another week of defensive dominance for the Nittany Lions.
7 Alabama Crimson Tide (+1) FCS week, so not much to take away from this game.
8 Miami Hurricanes (-1) Idle. Hurricanes look to bounce back next week against Wake Forest.
9 Georgia Bulldogs (+3) Excellent win for the Bulldogs over Tennessee. The SEC is shaping up for an absolutely wild finish.
10 Ole Miss Rebels (+0) Idle. Unexpectedly interesting game against a surging Florida next week.
11 Clemson Tigers (+2) Good win against Pitt. Clemson is still in the thick of the hunt for an ACC title. FCS team next week...
12 BYU Cougars (-3) That was not a good result for BYU... Tough game next against Arizona State that will decide a berth to the Big12 title game.
13 SMU Mustangs (+1) SMU got all they could handle from BC, but managed the win. Two more wins and they're a lock for the ACC Championship game.
14 Tennessee Volunteers (-3) Tough loss on the road against Georgia, but Tennessee is still in play for an SEC Championship.
15 Texas A&M Aggies (+3) Crushed New Mexico State. Auburn next and then a match up against Texas looms.
16 Arizona State Sun Devils (+6) What a great win for Kenny Dillingham and the Sun Devils! Arizona State looks to be having their best season in years.
17 Colorado Buffaloes (+2) While Utah is not what we thought they would be, this is still a great win for the Buffaloes. Like him or not, Deon has turned Colorado into a competent team faster than anticipated.
18 Boise State Broncos (+2) After a slow start, Boise shutdown San Jose State for most of the game. Teams are selling out to stop Jeanty and this makes life easy for the rest of the Bronco offense.
19 Iowa State Cyclones (+2) Whew, Iowa State got away with one. Penalties killed Cincinnati, but the Cyclones hung tough and put it away in the end.
20 Army West Point (-4) Crushed an FCS team. Fell due to better performances by teams around them against FBS opponents. Massive game next week against Notre Dame, which might secure a playoff spot for the winner.
21 South Carolina Gamecocks (NEW, +6) Great win for the Gamecocks over Mizzou. The South Carolina defensive line is nasty.
22 Tulane Green Wave (NEW, +6) Vaporized Navy. Tulane is still in the hunt for the last automatic playoff bid.
23 Washington State Cougars (-8) Rough loss for the Cougs against New Mexico. Regardless, they are having a great season and can still reach a solid bowl game.
24 Missouri Tigers (-1) Tough loss for the Tigers against South Carolina. Hopefully Mizzou can regroup after the bye week next.
25 Kansas State Wildcats (-8) Tough loss for the Wildcats against Arizona State. A bye week next will be good for Kansas State.
