Muffinnnnnnn Ballot for 2024 Week 11

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Nov. 5, 2024, 1:21 a.m.

Overall Rationale: Wins and losses matter most. If you have the same record and beat someone head-to-head, you must be above that team. I also avoid ranking any 3-loss team above any 1-loss teams, along with any 2-loss teams over any undefeated teams. My top remains unchanged with Oregon and Midwest James Madison I mean Indiana leading the pack. Louisville earns the honor of highest ranked 3-loss team, as they have lost to, in my rankings, three top 11 teams in SMU, Notre Dame, and Miami, and all of those were one-score games. Ohio State gets a slight boost from beating Penn State, but Penn State doesn't lose a ton of ground for now. Tumbles came for many teams this week: Iowa State, Kansas State, Clemson, Pitt, and Texas A&M. All were upset by teams seemingly worse than them, and as such have fallen a decent ways (Penn State sorta also falls into that category but only fell a little). Meanwhile, Illinois, Navy, and Memphis all lost hard enough to fall out of the rankings entirely, being replaced by Louisiana, Louisville, and Ole Miss, who enter the rankings this week. There was almost a spot for South Carolina, but the blowout loss to Ole Miss gave them the nod. As I have explained many times before, Miami is treated a bit differently due to their ref-assisted wins in 3 different games this year (some more than others). No refball win for Miami this week, and they actually moved up 5 spots and are knocking on the door of the top 10. I still don't think they've done anything close to earning the ranking they enjoy from the AP Poll, but maybe the CFP Rankings will do something different. Miami will probably be my most unusual team yet again this week. Another lackluster performance from Georgia allowed SMU to pass them while both Iowa State and K-State fell behind them, moving them up one spot. As always, feel free to let me know how stupid I am!
