DarthYoda2594 Ballot for 2024 Week 10

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 27, 2024, 9:33 a.m.

Overall Rationale: Try to match efficiency metrics with quality of wins and losses. Basically an objective ranking, with an eye test tweak. Once again, strange week as no team in my top 18 lost outside LSU, where someone had to, but a lot of teams didn't pass the eye test. I struggled a lot with how to rank 1 loss teams vs. undefeateds - Notre Dame and A&M are building great resumes, but Indiana and BYU keep beating pretty good teams themselves. And are all of them building strong enough cases to leapfrog teams like Texas and Tennessee, whose wins are losing value? Ultimately I decided yes, but everyone from #6 (Indiana) to #15 (Alabama) are very close in this ranking and will probably leap around by 10 spots in any given week, depending on what common opponents or strong wins do. Additionally, there were a very clear 22 teams to rank this week for me. The last 3 spots were challenging - In fact, I almost moved Vandy in here (who I didn't rank last week) in spite of losing, since all my "next few out" from previous weeks lost but Colorado. This creates a pretty clear tier list for me of 1-5, 6-15, 16-22, then the rest. Dropped out: Missouri (19, know they lost their QB but that was feeble), UNLV (24, fine loss but that low, can't stay in with one), Navy (25, same). New this week: Colorado (22), Tulane (24), Memphis (25). Next few out, in rough order: Florida, Missouri, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, South Carolina, Navy, Louisiana, UNLV, TCU, Illinois
