Overall Rationale: Early season rankings are based largely on expected results versus other ranked teams, and as the season goes leans more heavily on actual resume. By the end of the season, rankings are based entirely on resume. I lean heavily into head to head results and results against common opponents. I also sort teams into 6 tiers based on championship/playoff likelihood. Tier 1: Championship Frontrunners, near lock to make playoffs Tier 2: Championship Contenders with excellent chance of making playoffs Tier 3: Decent possibility to make playoffs, unlikely to compete for championship Tier 4: Outside playoff shot Tier 5: Unlikely to make playoffs but not quite eliminated Tier 6: No shot at playoffs

2 Oregon Ducks Tier 1.
3 Penn State Nittany Lions Tier 2.
4 Ohio State Buckeyes Tier 2. A one-point loss on the road to the number 2 team doesn't hurt them much. Losing your starting LT and exposing issues with the secondary might however.
5 Alabama Crimson Tide Tier 2. Struggled with an ok, not great SCar team but still pulled out the win.
6 Georgia Bulldogs Tier 2.
7 BYU Cougars Tier 3. Been playing really well recently. I think they're the best team in the Big 12.
8 Miami Hurricanes Tier 3.
9 Iowa State Cyclones Tier 3. No signature win, but undefeated puts them up here.
10 Notre Dame Fighting Irish Tier 3. Had they handled NIU they'd likely be top 5 right now.
11 Texas A&M Aggies Tier 3.
12 LSU Tigers Tier 4.
13 Kansas State Wildcats Tier 4. While they haven't looked terribly impressive, they've assembled a nice collection of wins and their only loss is on the road to a top ten team. Not bad.

15 Tennessee Volunteers Tier 4.
16 Pittsburgh Panthers Tier 4.
