CriterionCrypt Ballot for 2024 Week 7

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 6, 2024, 10:08 a.m.

Overall Rationale: My overall philosophy puts the eye test over overall record, conference standings, and even head-to-head results at times. Generally speaking, each individual ranking is based on what I think the head to head outcome would be on a neutral field at the time of ranking.

Rank Team Reason
Texas Longhorns Based solely on eye test, Texas is the most complete team in the country.
Ohio State Buckeyes
Penn State Nittany Lions
Oregon Ducks
Miami Hurricanes
Alabama Crimson Tide
Georgia Bulldogs
Tennessee Volunteers
Ole Miss Rebels I didn't ding Ole Miss too hard last week because I think Kentucky is a quality football program. As a matter of fact, Kentucky is good enough to win the Big XII or the ACC, but they are perpetually stuck being a mid-tier SEC school. Ole Miss rebounded this week and we will see where things end up at the end of the season.
Clemson Tigers Clemson has rebounded nicely since their loss to Georgia. They are probably the most complete team in the ACC.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
LSU Tigers
Iowa State Cyclones
Oklahoma Sooners
Texas A&M Aggies
BYU Cougars
Missouri Tigers I had questions about Mizzou given the fact that they have the weakest schedule in the SEC, but the second they were challenged with a team that had just a little bit of talent, they got blown out. I genuinely believe Mizzou walks out of this season with losses to Oklahoma and Alabama, and Arkansas and South Carolina are listed as toss ups to me.
Utah Utes
Michigan Wolverines Michigan is just not quite there yet. You can't lose this many players and your HC and expect to compete week in and week out.
Kansas State Wildcats
Boise State Broncos
Indiana Hoosiers
Pittsburgh Panthers
Illinois Fighting Illini
SMU Mustangs
