Overall Rationale: Based on teams' performance relative to their opponents' opponents, with adjustments for quality wins/losses. The loss adjustment is stronger than usual at the moment, due to the high performance of the top teams. Once someone scores more than 2 TDs against the longhorns, the one-loss P5 teams will overtake the undefeated G5 folks.

1 Ohio State Buckeyes Handling a tough Iowa team gives them the edge here.
2 Texas Longhorns Handling OU next week could get them to #1.
3 Oregon Ducks Top-class team, save for an average passing offense.
4 Iowa State Cyclones I know... but they've handled everybody they've faced well, save for run defense. If you don't like this, beat them.
5 Indiana Hoosiers Offense is top tier. Nebraska will be a good test in 2 weeks.
6 Penn State Nittany Lions Great running offense; great scoring defense.
7 Miami Hurricanes Great offense, but best win so far is against... Virginia Tech?
8 Pittsburgh Panthers They just keep winning. If you don't like this ranking, beat them.
9 Ole Miss Rebels The loss to Kentucky really hurt a top-tier offense.
10 BYU Cougars They just keep winning. If you don't like this ranking, beat them.
11 Michigan Wolverines The loss to Washington hurt them about as much as the win against USC helped them.
12 Georgia Bulldogs They can pass, they can score, but Bama's stock dropping hurts.
13 Navy Midshipmen Run run run... win win win... If you don't like this ranking, beat them.
14 Washington State Cougars The loss to Boise State hurt as much as the wins against Washingtion & Texas Tech helped combined.
15 Notre Dame Fighting Irish The loss to Northern Illinois still stings.
16 Army West Point Run run run... win win win... If you don't like this ranking, beat them.
17 Rutgers Scarlet Knights Like Washington State, as long as Washington keeps performing well, that win will be a boost.
18 LSU Tigers The loss to USC really stings.
19 Liberty Flames They haven't gotten to play enough to lose. If you don't like this ranking, beat them.
20 Texas A&M Aggies Top-tier defense, but the loss to Notre Dame still hurts.
21 Kentucky Wildcats Again, Top-tier defense, and the win against Ole Miss offset the loss to Georgia, but the loss to South Carolina is weighing them down.
22 Texas Tech Red Raiders Tech is a middle of the road team, but they've strung together enough mid-tier wins in Arizona/State & Cincy to be here.
23 Alabama Crimson Tide You lost to Vandy, and that quality win against Georgia isn't as big as it looked. And you lost to Vandy.
24 Boise State Broncos The loss to Oregon doesn't hurt that much, so they just have to keep winning.
25 Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks This may be a quirk of the model; yes, the offense is bottom tier, but the loss to the longhorns (the top performer) doesn't hurt at all, and the win against James Madison gave a significant bump.
