nw____ Ballot for 2024 Week 7

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 6, 2024, 9:19 a.m.

Overall Rationale: I watch as many games as I can and go with vibes beyond that. My rankings would probably be in the 60th percentile of AP Poll voters in terms of quality—we’re above average here but not by enough to raise any eyebrows.

Rank Team Reason
Ohio State Buckeyes How do you defend them? If you somehow manage to do that (doubtful), how do you score the 24-28 points you’ll **still** need to beat them? I will say, I don’t know that the offensive line has truly been tested. For now, though, they look the best. If they beat Oregon next week, they’ll lock up this spot for a while imo.
Texas Longhorns Their win over Michigan looks less impressive by the day. Beating OU next week would not be much to write home about either unless they blow their doors off, score 40+, and make it look easy.
Penn State Nittany Lions Offense is fun. Call me crazy, but they should’ve won by more yesterday. I still have a few questions but the talent is there.
Oregon Ducks Also still have questions. How will DG hold up next week if the tOSU pass rush looks as good as it did against Iowa?
Miami Hurricanes At some point, someone’s gonna get them. I think they deserve this spot based on their record, but if I did power ratings, I’d have them ~10th. Not saying they are a bad team by any means, just not convinced yet.
Alabama Crimson Tide What the hell am I supposed to do with this team?
Georgia Bulldogs They showed some of that throat-stepping ability they have closing out the Auburn game. Need to see more of that. Are they back on track now?
Tennessee Volunteers What the hell am I supposed to do with this team? I cannot explain what happened. Surely they weren’t looking ahead to the Florida game, right? Like I’ve got nothing here. They were flat and they paid for it.
Clemson Tigers The gap b/w them and Georgia is still probably huge, but teams are dropping like flies this season right as Clemson’s offense looks the best it’s looked in several years.
BYU Cougars Bye.
Iowa State Cyclones I didn’t see this coming. They just keep winning.
Boise State Broncos Jeanty for Heisman please. Good grief that man is something special.
Ole Miss Rebels Idk. They looked better. SCar > Kentucky > Ole Miss > SCar??? What do I do.
Indiana Hoosiers Struggled more than I expected, but perhaps that’s bc of the weird Northwestern field situation.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Bye
Kansas State Wildcats Bye
Pittsburgh Panthers Offense! Expected them to score even more though, tbh.
Texas A&M Aggies Idk. Like there’s no way they’re actually this good, right?? Mizzou seemed desperate to drop one leading up to yesterday’s game. They finally did. What does that mean for A&M?
SMU Mustangs Offense! Did not expect them to have a relatively easy time against Louisville.
Nebraska Cornhuskers Great defense and a very promising QB, now featuring a couple of actual receivers. Wouldn’t want to play them. I think Rutgers is pretty ok, too.
Oklahoma Sooners Bye.
Illinois Fighting Illini Bye
Navy Midshipmen America, now featuring more water and ships. Kinda love the offense now, tbh. It is like a more fun, more committed to the option version of Kansas or something. Super exciting to watch.
Washington State Cougars Honestly idk. This was a tough week for rankings.
Texas Tech Red Raiders See above. Wanted to find a way to get Tulane in here but just couldn’t do it. Think Tech earned it with the Arizona win.
