HopefulReb76 Ballot for 2024 Week 6

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 30, 2024, 1:41 a.m.

Rank Team Reason
Texas Longhorns I didn't move Texas from last week. I am not penalizing them for not only a good game but, State seemed to be figuring things out better with Van Buren at helm.
Alabama Crimson Tide Not putting them at #1 is almost criminal after the performance. The defense after half time just didn't come out as hot against Georgia leading to them having a comeback that was quickly squashed by an explosive play. Clock management is slightly into question though due to the explosive play giving Georgia time to march up the field and if it wasn't for the pick in the end zone they could have lost. Things to clean up for sure.
Tennessee Volunteers A great team so far clicking properly and very likely in the conference championship. As long as their ego doesn't inflate and drop what could be a trap game in Fayetteville this week. Also hard to move the off a bye week.
Ohio State Buckeyes They haven't really played anyone yet and have been slow to start a few times. I think Iowa's defense will for sure test them.
Georgia Bulldogs They very likely could have been a two loss team but are not. They are high from both the quality of the loss to Alabama but also the second half performance for a come back when under pressure and down multiple scores.
Penn State Nittany Lions Penn State is really starting to clean things up from the earlier weeks. They looked very composed for the majority of the Illinois game.
Oregon Ducks They got bumped down one due to Penn States performance over a rank Illinois team.
BYU Cougars BYU handled Baylor without an issue. A very explosive start of the game driving up the score and did a great job of holding them to single scores a quarter.
Miami Hurricanes Still an absolutely amazing team but there were some struggles the entire game against a not so great VT team at home in Miami at night. If poorly called TD stood they would have dropped. I am sure they will not underestimate any other teams on their schedule.
Kentucky Wildcats This defense is for real they should have been ranked with they held Georgia and could have beaten them so I am retroactively fixing this on an error from last weeks poll.
Clemson Tigers This team is really explosive and the Georgia game was a over reaction to how this team is actually playing so far in this season. Looking at their schedule they have 3 rough games Louisville, South Carolina, and Virgina Tech. Outside of those three games I think Dabo and team will continue to score at least 10 more points than their opponents.
Iowa State Cyclones Iowa state had a much better performance against Arkansas state then Michigan, is undefeated and prevented Houston from scoring.
Kansas State Wildcats K-State beat the cardiac cowboys and it wasn't as close as I thought it would be they seemed to be hungry after that dirty loss to a good BYU team.
Michigan Wolverines Minnesota that close at home. Something has to be done more on offense if they hope to move up.
USC Trojans Good performance to make up for that Michigan game.
Missouri Tigers A&M looks a little more put together than they had this season. That near loss to Vandy hurt a little more as I watched some of the film.
Oklahoma Sooners This game went about how I thought it would only moved down for some better teams passing them.
Illinois Fighting Illini Rough. I didn't think they could beat Penn State but, I did think it would be a little closer. They are sort of stagnant due to movements both up and down in rankings.
LSU Tigers They beat Southern Alabama. Not awarding a move based off that even with a large point diff. They probably will beat the Rebs in a few weeks.
Boise State Broncos Explosive plays; bottled up a Wazzu team I really liked. Right now I really hope they get the G5 bid although early in the season. They might have the heisman front runner behind Milroe
UNLV Rebels UNLV DON"T NEED TO SPEND 100K FOR A QB! They look good and I think their biggest struggle as of now may be against Boise St in a few weeks.
Rutgers Scarlet Knights Rutgers is a little sneaky right now. I know the Washington win doesn't speak too many volumes but, combined with the performance of VT this past weekend in Miami I can see this Rutgers team doing well. I do think they will have a very rough 2 weeks and I think may be able to take Wisconsin. Nebraska may be a harder feat
Notre Dame Fighting Irish They are good but there seems to be quite a bit of struggles that are slowly being taken care of and they knocked down a Louisville team whose most notable win was over GT.
Louisville Cardinals SMU very well could knock this team off rankings. They struggled against ND that isn't an overly amazing team.
Ole Miss Rebels Charlie Weiss Jr is a clown of an OC; elementary basics need to be gone over in practice to prevent so many penalties seen this year, multiple players were not seen this week on the field getting any action. I think they are trying to pad Jaxson and Harris draft stock or I am not sure everything is okay or if Bentley has regressed. It will be interesting to see how they handle a really good SC team.
