Overall Rationale: Early season rankings are based largely on expected results versus other ranked teams, and as the season goes leans more heavily on actual resume. By the end of the season, rankings are based entirely on resume. I lean heavily into head to head results and results against common opponents. I also sort teams into 6 tiers based on championship/playoff likelihood. Tier 1: Championship Frontrunners, near lock to make playoffs Tier 2: Championship Contenders with excellent chance of making playoffs Tier 3: Decent possibility to make playoffs, unlikely to compete for championship Tier 4: Outside playoff shot Tier 5: Unlikely to make playoffs but not quite eliminated Tier 6: No shot at playoffs

1 Texas Longhorns Tier 1.
2 Alabama Crimson Tide Tier 1. Likely the best win so far this year.
3 Ohio State Buckeyes Tier 1.
4 Oregon Ducks Tier 2. Boise State close call is actually turning into a quality win.
5 Penn State Nittany Lions Tier 2. Illinois is a decent team and Penn State was clearly better.
6 Georgia Bulldogs Tier 2. Tough loss, but staying in it till the fourth and almost coming back gets them some points. Still a team I expect to see in the playoffs.
7 Miami Hurricanes Tier 2. An escape like that against a lesser conference opponent at home might hurt the Hurricanes other weeks but losses above them move them up. Considered moving them down a tier but they're still the class of the ACC. For now.
8 Missouri Tigers Tier 3. BC win still looks solid.
9 Tennessee Volunteers Tier 3.
10 Utah Utes Tier 3. I am giving serious benefit of the doubt to Utah considering they are playing with their backup QB. If Cam Rising misses a bunch more time then I may no longer do that. Until then, I still think this is the best team in the Big 12.
11 Iowa State Cyclones Tier 4.
12 Michigan Wolverines Tier 4. Did not look great against Minnesota but a win is a win.
13 USC Trojans Tier 4. Solid win over a decent Wisconsin team.
14 LSU Tigers Tier 4.
15 Ole Miss Rebels Tier 4. Don't know what to make of this team, or Kentucky.
16 Oklahoma Sooners Tier 4.
17 Clemson Tigers Tier 4.
18 BYU Cougars Tier 4. Road win against conference opponent is never easy, plus KSU and SMU wins are looking pretty good.
19 Notre Dame Fighting Irish Tier 4. Two wins over good teams and one loss to a bad one.
20 Louisville Cardinals Tier 4.
21 Kansas State Wildcats Tier 4. Great win over good Ok State team
22 Boston College Eagles Tier 4.
23 Pittsburgh Panthers Tier 4.
24 Boise State Broncos Tier 4. Close loss on road to top 5 team and a great win over previously ranked WSU? Heisman candidate RB? That's worth a spot.
25 Indiana Hoosiers Tier 4. 5Windiana
