Overall Rationale: Heavily resume based.
Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Texas Longhorns | Took care of business against ULM. And now for the anticipated first SEC Conference game for the Longhorns..... against Mississippi State. Well, it's always nice when your conference games still function as cupcakes. |
| Georgia Bulldogs | Week off after that game against Kentucky and now they'll face a daunting test in Alabama. |
| Ohio State Buckeyes | Took care of business against Marshall, now time for the conference schedule to get going. Should get a better gauge of where they're at soon. |
| Tennessee Volunteers | This Oklahoma team isn't as daunting as years past, but still to be able to go into Norman and win convincingly is still impressive. I am remaining bullish on the Volunteers this year. |
| Alabama Crimson Tide | Also a week off after the Wisconsin game. First marquee home game in the DeBoer era awaits too: For better or for worse this will set the tone of the DeBoer era in the Bama fanbase. |
| Ole Miss Rebels | Successful non-conference schedule is completed, and getting a conference opener against Kentucky isn't a bad spot. |
| Miami Hurricanes | Recruiting matters. Some of the looks USF was getting put Miami in hell that first half, but once wear and tear took over it was convincing for the Canes. Now it is time for ACC play to start: and a VT team coming to Miami Gardens that has losses to Vandy and Rutgers on their head isn't a bad way to start. |
| Utah Utes | Well, it's hard to look at the Week 4 results without recognizing that the the Big 12 this year is probably going to have to go through Salt Lake City. Convincing win over Oklahoma State, though next week may get tricky with Arizona's QB WR combos. |
| Missouri Tigers | I had to ding them. This might be another year of Mizzou performing Houdini acts against lesser competition and me struggling where to put them as they keep winning. |
| Oregon Ducks | Week off this week but probably for the best. |
| Penn State Nittany Lions | Well, they did what I should expect against Kent State. A ranked Illinois team coming to Happy Valley will better gauge where the Lions are at though. |
| Louisville Cardinals | Opened up the conference portion of the schedule with a solid win over GT. Next week will better gauge where the Cardinals are at... but I do feel they are slept on so far. |
| Iowa State Cyclones | Sneakily 3-0, a good opportunity awaits to go 4-0 in Houston. |
| Michigan Wolverines | My concerns on the passing game are still there, but my concerns for the team's trajectory are alleviated. Gutsy win to beat USC with some ultimate bully ball. |
| USC Trojans | Well, that game in Ann Arbor is what they signed up for when they wanted to join the B1G. |
| LSU Tigers | There's one LA team they won't fall to this year. |
| Oklahoma State Cowboys | Still a solid team but a convincing loss to Utah shows there's a gap to where they want to be. |
| Oklahoma Sooners | Well they have to make the call on QB. Anyways, they have to follow losing at home to Tennessee with a trip to Jordan Hare. Welcome to the SEC Sooners, hope you survive the experience. |
| Clemson Tigers | Welcome back Clemson. I think I punished them too hard leaving them unranked with the only blemish being Georgia. And oh did they take that out on poor App State and now NC State. |
| Illinois Fighting Illini | Time to give the Illini respect. And now the chance to earn more. |
| Washington State Cougars | Moved them down a bit since that was a wild OT game. But still 4-0, and they can definitely make a debate if they keep winning. |
| UNLV Rebels | Off week, but a good off week for them as other G5 contenders dropped like flies |
| Boston College Eagles | Good win against an improved Michigan State. While I could put 4-0 P5 teams here, they shouldn't be punished for their one loss being on the road in a close game and I do think they have a chance for a solid year this year. |
| Indiana Hoosiers | 9Windiana is on the table. I decided to give them a vote since while they've faced soft schedule they've been absolutely clinical in the process. |
| BYU Cougars | Well, I see you Cougars. Nice win over K-State and a good 4-0 start. Utah is the early Big 12 frontrunner but could one of their biggest obstacles be a all-too familiar foe? |
