bretticus33 Ballot for 2024 Week 5

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 22, 2024, 3:24 a.m.

Rank Team Reason
Texas Longhorns No Quinn, no problem. Not the cleanest first start from Arch but he’ll probably be good when he becomes the full time starter. Open up SEC play against Miss State next week.
Georgia Bulldogs No game for the Bulldogs in preparation for Alabama
Tennessee Volunteers While that NC State win has lost shine, Tennessee showed they’re defensively the real deal. Offense was less effective today though, credit to the Sooners.
Ohio State Buckeyes Slow start but an eventual blowout win over Marshall. I don’t think anyone’s leaving for Marshall’s NIL biscuit deal.
Alabama Crimson Tide No game for the Tide in preparation for Georgia
Ole Miss Rebels Another easy win for Ole Miss. They’re largely untested but have looked good so far. Open up SEC play against Kentucky this weekend.
Penn State Nittany Lions Penn State got the shutout and broke century-old records against Kent State. Host #20 Illinois next.
Missouri Tigers Followed a solid showing against Boston College with an unimpressive one against Vandy. I think Vandy’s improved, but not enough to take down top 10 teams on the road. Mizzou needs to clean it up
Utah Utes No Cam Rising, no problem for Utah. The offense is clearly better with him, but that’s a good win on the road over a good OKST team. Host Arizona next.
Oregon Ducks No game for Oregon who open up B1G play against former PAC-12 foe UCLA
Miami Hurricanes Just like Alabama, Miami started off slow against USF but pulled away in the 2nd half for a big victory. The Canes are the ACC favorite and open up ACC play against VA Tech on Friday
Louisville Cardinals Louisville’s first real game of the season and they pass. Move up big mostly because of the chaos ahead of them. Road trip to #19 Notre Dame is a big opportunity.
Clemson Tigers Well I guess Clemson has an offense now? Nearly 2 straight 60 point games and NC State was never in it, despite the final score. Clemson gets Stanford next.
Iowa State Cyclones Easy win over Arkansas State, but beat them by a lot more than Michigan did. ISU opens up Big 12 play at Houston next.
Oklahoma State Cowboys Disappointing loss with inconsistencies from Bowman and the running game is DOA. They need to show more to beat #23 Kansas State in Manhattan.
Michigan Wolverines Turns out to play QB at Michigan, you just gotta run the ball. Beat USC with 32 passing yards and without Colston Loveland. Host Minnesota next, who just gave up over 200 on the ground to Iowa.
USC Trojans Is USC improved defensively? Yes. Is USC an offensive juggernaut? No, but they’re still solid there. CFP may not happen but they’re competitive in the B1G at least. Host Wisconsin next.
BYU Cougars Nobody saw a 4-0 BYU coming, nor did anyone see them dominating KSU the way they did. BYU may be a surprise CFP contender after Sitake was getting a bit of a hot seat. BYU goes to Baylor next.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish No MAC upset this time for the Irish, but another disappointing offensive output. Have a big one against #12 Louisville next.
Illinois Fighting Illini Illinois has been quite the surprise this season and the Illini took down Nebraska in Lincoln in OT. Defense is really good and Altmeyer is looking solid. Trip to Beaver Stadium to play #7 Penn State next.
Indiana Hoosiers Indiana has been one of the best surprises in CFB so far. Low expectations coming in but Cignetti has Indiana firing on all cylinders so far. 6-0 Indiana is a real possibility. Hoosiers host Maryland next.
LSU Tigers 4 games in and LSU has been disappointing in all 4. Defense is still a major liability and offense, while talented, isn’t putting together a complete game. Tigers host a hot South Alabama team next.
Kansas State Wildcats Right after an extremely impressive victory over Arizona, the Wildcats follow that up with an extremely unimpressive loss to BYU. Provo is a tough place to play, but nothing went well for KSU. That win over Arizona keeps them in and get a chance at redemption with #15 OK State coming to town next.
Oklahoma Sooners The Sooner defense is legit and will keep them in a lot of games this season. The offense is a mess, but after all that preseason hype it looks like Jackson Arnold is not that guy. QB controversy in Norman as the Sooners travel to Auburn next.
Boise State Broncos Boise State takes over as the top G5 team after NIU and Memphis lose. Took care of Portland State easily, have a true Heisman contender, already have an impressive performance against Oregon in hand, and have a chance against a 4-0 WSU team next.
