NastyWideOuts Ballot for 2024 Week 5

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 22, 2024, 1:08 p.m.

Overall Rationale: Results, point differential, eye test

Rank Team Reason
Texas Longhorns The undisputed best team in America right now
Georgia Bulldogs Bye week W
Ohio State Buckeyes Weak schedule but nothing to fault the Buckeyes on right now. Slow start against Marshall but ultimately won through their talent and depth.
Ole Miss Rebels I’m an Ole Miss homer but I do believe the Rebels are elite. So far through 4 weeks of preseason, Ole Miss has beat every team with ease and covered the spread each time. Georgia Southern was able to score the first touchdown on Ole Miss this year, gotta give credit where it’s due. Jaxson Dart for Heisman. Tre Harris for Biletnikoff.
Tennessee Volunteers Very impressive win at Oklahoma. Tennessee is also one of the best teams in the country.
Alabama Crimson Tide Bye week L. Next week will tell a lot about this team.
Miami Hurricanes Scored a lot of points at USF. Covered the spread by a lot. Cam Ward seems to be a real Heisman contender.
Penn State Nittany Lions Shutout win over Kent State. Undefeated but still a lot of unknowns about this team. Penn State may have a real test next week against Illinois.
Utah Utes Great win on the road at Oklahoma State. It may have only been by 3 points, but the game was never really that close.
Oregon Ducks Bye week, no movement
Missouri Tigers Unimpressive overtime win vs. Vanderbilt. Very easily could have been a loss.
Illinois Fighting Illini Good win at Nebraska. Illini have a talented roster with former Ole Miss players Luke Altmyer and Zakhari Franklin.
Louisville Cardinals Good win vs. Georgia Tech. Moved the Cardinals up a lot because of other teams falling.
Michigan Wolverines A strong win holding on vs. USC. A well played game from both teams, could have gone either way. Michigan wins and gets a boost in the ranking.
Iowa State Cyclones Still undefeated and scored a lot of points this week. Can’t fault that.
Clemson Tigers Looked the part in their win over NC State. With their only loss to Georgia, Clemson deserves some leniency.
USC Trojans Just above LSU. Tough loss at Michigan, have to give some credit in a close road loss.
LSU Tigers Won with ease over UCLA after a slow start. I don’t think LSU is great but they belong in the top 25 at this point. They have the talent to be a tough team to beat.
Oklahoma Sooners Welcome to the SEC.
BYU Cougars Strong showing against a ranked Kansas State team. BYU is a tough team to beat at home. A very disciplined team too.
Oklahoma State Cowboys Only lost by 3 to Utah, but it wasn’t that close.
Boise State Broncos Boise State may be the best G6 school this year. Only loss to Oregon, but that was close. Had a nice blowout win this week against Portland State.
Indiana Hoosiers Undefeated! Indiana belongs in the top 25 for sure.
Washington State Cougars Undefeated! Close game against SJSU but a win is a win.
Nebraska Cornhuskers Close loss at home against Illinois. Raiola looks pretty good. Matt Rhule seems to have them going the right direction. Huskers are hanging on to the top 25.
