JBonkies Ballot for 2024 Week 4

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 15, 2024, 10:35 a.m.

Overall Rationale: Reranking based on how teams have looked so far. There aren't any teams that have lost that look good enough to be in the top 25.

Rank Team Reason
Texas Longhorns (+2) 3 straight blowout wins for Texas which includes one in Ann Arbor.
Georgia Bulldogs (-1) Kentucky didn't give themselves a great chance to win. They needed to attack Georgia at the end of the first half and the end of the game. UGA looked like they lost the battle in the trenches which was a huge red flag and is the reason I dropped them.
Ohio State Buckeyes (-1) Ohio State has had 2 MAC teams so far, so it is hard to tell how good they really are. They are still in tier one as I think there is a good separation between the top 3 and 4-9.
Tennessee Volunteers (-) Dylan Sampson has been awesome this year. I think Tennessee might have the best offense in the country.
Ole Miss Rebels (-) Haven't been tested yet, but look like one of the best offenses in the country again.
Alabama Crimson Tide (+1) Back to where I had them week 1. Overreacted to the USF win, and might be overreacting to the Wisconsin win.
Penn State Nittany Lions (-1) Off week, jumped by Bama.
Miami Hurricanes (+1) South Florida will probably be Miami's biggest test of the season so far, since Florida looks horrible.
USC Trojans (+3) USC has been the most surprising team to me this season. This is the last team in my tier 2 of teams before the cluster of 10-22 that I have no idea how to properly rank.
Missouri Tigers (+1) Good to see Burden get going this week in the first game that was a test for Missouri.
Kansas State Wildcats (+2) Avery Johnson has played well this year. Kansas State has a sneaky tough 4 game stretch before the sunflower showdown. Road games in BYU, Colorado, and West Virginia. None of them look great but its college football.
Oklahoma Sooners (+4) I am very confused about the Houston game. OU looked good against Tulsa who KSU struggled with.
Oklahoma State Cowboys (+1) Blowout win at Tulsa this week.
Oregon Ducks (-6) The dropping has nothing to do with the Oregon State game, but more about the first two games. It seemed as if everyone thought the Ducks were on upset alert this week except Vegas, and they still covered the large spread. I should have dropped them earlier when they struggled but I like to wait until after week 3 to really evaluate the teams.
Utah Utes (-5) Kind of struggled early, the injury concern to Rising is scary, and they haven't looked as good as I expected early in the season.
Nebraska Cornhuskers (-1) Didn't watch at all, still think they are a very good team.
Memphis Tigers (+2) Great win at a not so great Florida State. Going into their toughest game of the season and winning is still very impressive even if Florida State isn't what most people thought they would be.
Louisville Cardinals (-1) Off this week, jumped by Memphis.
UNLV Rebels (+4) Kind of lucky to get out of Kansas with a win, but I really like this UNLV team and am excited for the battle between them and Boise 10/25.
Iowa State Cyclones (-) Off this week. Looking ahead, they have a very favorable Big 12 schedule.
Washington State Cougars (NEW) By far the biggest and most important game of the season for the Cougs, and they got the job done on the road. This win could help propel them into that G6 playoff spot if they can get through their schedule. Washington was the start of their 4 game stretch that is the only hard spot of their schedule outside of OrSt.
North Carolina Tar Heels (+2) Easy win against a MEAC team.
Toledo Rockets (NEW) Mississippi State isn't good, but going into Starkville and dominating an SEC team is still really impressive. The MAC is going to be awesome this year.
Indiana Hoosiers (NEW) Indiana will start 6-0 this year, and I really wouldn't be shocked if they started 9-0. Huge win on the road to really kick off the Cignetti era in Bloomington.
Northern Illinois Huskies (NEW) I wasn't a huge believer in the win over Notre Dame, and think Purdue is the bottom of the big ten. After ND put the beat down on them I had to include NIU this week.
