hurricaneatx Ballot for 2024 Week 4

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 14, 2024, 10:46 p.m.

Overall Rationale: Blend of power/resume-thinking, as well as a vague and undefinable mix of vibes and roster strength. I don't really care if a team moves drastically week-to-week, but I do believe there is some utility to poll inertia. I am a fan of the Texas Longhorns. [Teams in the ranking suburbs (next 5): Boise State, Iowa, Washington State, Memphis, Syracuse] [Teams in the ranking exurbs (no particular order): Washington, Texas A&M, Illinois, NC State, Cal, UCF, Toledo, Auburn, SMU, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, UNLV, Pittsburgh, TCU, North Carolina, Arizona State, South Carolina, Wisconsin, Oregon State, Rutgers, Liberty]

Rank Team Reason
Texas Longhorns (3-0) - Possibly rat poison for my own favorite team
Georgia Bulldogs (3-0) -
Ohio State Buckeyes (2-0) -
Tennessee Volunteers (3-0) - Quite the showing last week, but that was against possibly the worst team in the FBS. That said, Tennessee has certainly looked very good this year.
Alabama Crimson Tide (3-0) -
Ole Miss Rebels (3-0) -
Miami Hurricanes (3-0) -
Oregon Ducks (3-0) -
Missouri Tigers (3-0) -
USC Trojans (2-0) -
Penn State Nittany Lions (2-0) -
Utah Utes (3-0) - Closely than it should have been against Utah State, but granted, Utah were once again without Cam Rising (how many times have we heard that now...)
Oklahoma Sooners (3-0) - Can the Sooners defense, star of the Sooners' show, hold up well against Tennessee? Time will tell.
Kansas State Wildcats (3-0) -
Oklahoma State Cowboys (3-0) -
Clemson Tigers (1-1) -
Iowa State Cyclones (2-0) -
Michigan Wolverines (2-1) -
LSU Tigers (2-1) -
Louisville Cardinals (2-0) -
Northern Illinois Huskies (2-0) -
Notre Dame Fighting Irish (2-1) -
Nebraska Cornhuskers (3-0) -
Boston College Eagles (2-1) - Boston College is well-built, and given their performance against Missouri, seem to rightfully deserve a top 25 ranking despite Florida State falling off the map.
Arizona Wildcats (2-1) - The once high-powered Arizona offense has now struggled two weeks in a row. There is certainly a lot of competition on the top-25 fringes, and Arizona on my ranking is very weakly ahead of the rest of the bunch for now.
