Ballot Type: Human
Submitted: Oct. 31, 2023, 9 a.m.
Overall Rationale: Gut, feeling, random uninformed opinions.
Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Ohio State Buckeyes | I hold firm that up to this point, OSU has looked the best against the toughest opponents. I still fail to understand how they aren't #1. We are well past halfway through the season, and I don't understand how being a reigning champ or having a strong pre-season poll plays anymore role than breaking a tie between two teams that are neck and neck. |
| Georgia Bulldogs | Georgia has made it clear that they mean business. Of course, the Gators aren't very good this year, but they're still the Gators. It takes a great team to blow a game open like that against a program like UF. So I'll give the Dawgs their day in the sun. Besides this game though, I'm still largely unimpressed. |
| Florida State Seminoles | The Noles absolutely steamrolled WF. Of course, it's WF, but still. It was a road conference game for the Noles and they demolished the team for 4 consistent quarters, a sign that the Noles may be turning the corner to playing their best ball of the season as they're entering a very difficult and emotional final month. |
| Washington Huskies | Washington has looked shaky these last few games, but right now I feel like given Michigan had a bye, I'm going to bump the huskies up. A dominant performance at USC this week would cement them here for me. Another shaky showing will probably knock them out again. |
| Michigan Wolverines | It was a bye week. Given, Michigan is losing it spectacularly in other regards. However, this is about ball and nothing else, and the Wolverines look good. Assuming the Spoilermakers don't make an appearance, I'm expecting an absolute massacre on Saturday and a well earned re-entry to the top 4. |
| Oregon Ducks | Utah was absolutely punished by the Ducks. If it weren't for that choke against the huskies, they'd be a favorite of mine to win it all. |
| Alabama Crimson Tide | Bama has clearly been steadily improving and climbing these last few weeks. I feel like people are forgetting about them because they aren't in the CFP conversation at the moment, but sending LSU packing may help a claim towards top 5 assuming someone above them slips. I could certainly see am Oregon leapfrog |
| Ole Miss Rebels | They hurt Vandy, and for other reasons I've outlined in past ballots, this team clearly means some business. |
| Penn State Nittany Lions | Man that was probably closer than people wanted, but hey, they still stole the win from the Hoosiers so I'll keep them top 10. |
| Oklahoma Sooners | Kansas? Ouch OU. Can't really see them sneaking into the CFP after that. Honestly, after that whole game, I'm questioning their quality. One big game from teh longhorns or one more poor showing may have them flipping for me, regardless of RRR. |
| Notre Dame Fighting Irish | Pitt was raptured by the Irish. Getting that close to mercy ruling a D1 team is always impressive. |
| Texas Longhorns | Your day is coming texas. Punishing BYU like that certainly helps your resume as we enter the latter 3rd of the season. |
| LSU Tigers | This Alabama game is make-or-break for the Tiger's whole season. This is the difference maker, we'll have to wait and see whether BK and JD can show up for the big games, or if they'll implode. |
| Louisville Cardinals | No question about it, the cards blinked and dropped that Pitt game and THEY. ARE. ANGRY. about it. Angry enough to beat the hell out of Duke for 4 straight quarters, taking a game hyped up as a close match-up to a clearly lopsided punishment. |
| Missouri Tigers | These wins over Kentucky and SC, two pretty great teams, keeps the tigers in the top 15 for me. They will be Georgia's greatest challenge yet come Saturday. I'm just questioning how much of a fight they can really put up. |
| Oregon State Beavers | Man, losing to Arizona like that had to hurt. This team may be entering a slide, and I'm not sure if I'll see them here after they meet with the Buffaloes, but right now, I'll keep them top 20 for some of their more convincing wins earlier in the season. Make no mistake though, the favors have run dry. It's time to show up, or say bye-bye to your ranking. |
| Kansas Jayhawks | KANSAS!!!!! CALL THE POLICE AND THE FIREMEN, JAYHAWKS ARE SOME BAD MFs!!!! What more do I have to say? Kansas makes no sense, and I love their chaos. This is what CFB is about, I'm here fore it, and I'll happily place the Jayhawks well within a clearly deserved top 20 ranking. |
| Air Force Falcons | Undefeated, still rolling. Some blow outs with these next few games could convince me of a top 15 or even top 20 finish for the Falcons. |
| Utah Utes | DId they play a very good Oregon team? Yes. Is that any excuse for getting embarrassed at home by them? Absolutely not. Utah's days here are numbered, but it was a "quality loss" that keeps them breathing for now. They have a chance to bounce back next week against an Arizona team, but I'm doubtful of how much of a fight they'll be able to show in their biggest game of the seasons when they head up to Husky country. |
| Tennessee Volunteers | A good bounce back against a solid Kentucky team. They have one more chance this season to make a case for being in the top 15 when they face up against Mizzou. For now, they need to focus on being dominant against the Huskies. |
| Tulane Green Wave | That was a real close game against Rice. They pulled it out, but you can't be having close games like that in this area of the rankings when there are so many teams chomping at your heels for a ranking. Tulane has gotta watch out. |
| UCLA Bruins | I feel like UCLA has peaked, which is a real shame. They were still impressive against a snippy Colorado team, and they're looking pretty solid out there. Should be a nice end to their season. |
| Kansas State Wildcats | They have been blowing out opponents and I'm excited to see what they do with this Texas opportunity. |
| James Madison Dukes | JMU remains undefeated, and I absolutely love this for them. |
| Oklahoma State Cowboys | I'm not ready to say bye to the Cowboys yet. Maybe I'm wrong for kicking USC out, but honestly, I think Williams is overrated and I don't think the team is as great as people make them out to be. They dominated Cincinnati, and I'm excited to see how they go up against an OU team trying to find their identity. |
