_TGT7 Ballot for 2023 Week 10

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 29, 2023, 9:15 a.m.

Overall Rationale: Explanations given for teams in T25 matchups and teams that moved 3 or more spaces.

Rank Team Reason
Michigan Wolverines
Ohio State Buckeyes
Georgia Bulldogs I had Florida ranked last week, Georgia showed me that ranking Florida was stupid, case closed. Georgia I expect to go 12-0
Florida State Seminoles
Washington Huskies
Texas Longhorns +2
Oregon Ducks +5, Oregon gets a huge win where they demolished a very good Utah team, with their only loss being a very close game against Top 5 Washington, Oregon gets back into my top 10
Penn State Nittany Lions -2
Alabama Crimson Tide
Oklahoma Sooners -3 Kansas isn’t a bad team by any stretch, and I believe keeping Oklahoma a Top 10 team is fair, but Oklahoma really shouldn’t have lost with how mediocre Jason Bean was in the game. Oklahoma still likely makes the playoffs if they win out, but the margin for error is now slim. I personally think Oklahoma loses another game to go 10-2 heading into the CCG
Notre Dame Fighting Irish +2
Ole Miss Rebels +2
LSU Tigers +2
Louisville Cardinals +4, Louisville crushes Duke to advance up these rankings, Louisville also has a circle of suck now with Pitt and Notre Dame, which makes the Pitt loss incredibly confusing. Fun team that can win out, but has got to show up to the next four games, probably goes 9-3 knowing my luck
Oregon State Beavers -5, Similar situation to Oklahoma in where they suffered a loss that wasn’t that bad, but they should’ve beaten Arizona. Oregon State has really good wins, but questionable losses. 8-4 seems likely to me
Utah Utes -5, Utah’s lack of a offense finally caught up to them, as Oregon completely destroyed them. I know Utah has some injuries, but losing by 29 at home simply isn’t acceptable. 9-3 probably ends up being the record.
Air Force Falcons
Missouri Tigers
Tulane Green Wave
Kansas Jayhawks (NEW) Kansas gets the big win that I felt was missing from their resume, making them a easy top 25 pick in my eyes. Kansas should go 9-3 or even 10-2, but I have a feeling they go 7-5 or something and fall off the map. Good team though.
Liberty Flames (NEW) Was trying to avoid ranking Liberty for a long time because I find conference USA to be incredibly weak, but at some point, once you keep on winning, you deserve to be ranked. Liberty should easily go 12-0, with Old Dominion being the only team left that I think can realistically beat them
Tennessee Volunteers +3, Tennessee got a nice win in a road game against Kentucky. But I didn’t move them up because of that, everyone else around this area in the rankings lost or looked bad, Tennessee was the only team that did what they were supposed to do. Tennessee has a touch schedule, 8-4 is likely
UCLA Bruins (NEW), I have UCLA ranked lower than most because they just don’t have any good wins on their resume (Wazzu is imploding, Stanford and San Diego State suck, Coastal Carolina is mid, and Colorado is very mid). They’ve looked good in all their wins though, and being 6-2 as a power 5 team with no head-scratching losses does deserve some credit. UCLA might go 10-2 with one of the easier PAC-12 schedules left
James Madison Dukes
USC Trojans -4, USC better enjoy the one point win over California, because I doubt they win another game all season. USC’s defense is a complete joke, and is holding the team back, if Utah’s defense and USC’s offense joined forces, they probably win every single game. I’m hesitant to call Lincoln Riley a fraud like some are doing, but he has to hire a real D-coordinator if he wants to be respected in the college football landscape.
