1 Georgia Bulldogs They have followed up a National title season with a 13-0 SEC title winning season. This is an absolute machine right now. They are the favorites heading into the playoff until somebody shows they can beat them.
2 Michigan Wolverines You know it's your type of year when Spoilermaker magic doesn't even work. Just a dominant year, which is an impressive job by Harbaugh after a lot of pieces left last year.
3 Ohio State Buckeyes Well, they backed into the playoff. Crazy that some of their fans wanted Day's head even though they're literally a playoff team. Given that this is my rankings and I'm not directly in charge of matchups, I think it's fair to put them ahead of TCU in rankings, though I don't fault the committee at ALL for avoiding the rematch.
4 TCU Horned Frogs Put them below Ohio State in rankings because I think Ohio State is a better team. That said, TCU is still one of the best 4 teams in the country and the committee got it right.
5 Alabama Crimson Tide I get people are tired of them, but I still think Alabama is a strong unit. Just not meant to be this year.
6 Tennessee Volunteers Still a great season for the Vols, and now the Orangiest Orange Bowl awaits.
7 Penn State Nittany Lions I disagree with how far they fell while idle. 10-2 with the only two losses to Ohio State and Michigan. I think they're still the 7th best team in the country
8 Utah Utes What a win, and a date in the Rose Bowl awaits.
9 Kansas State Wildcats A strong season, and a Big 12 title is a defining moment for Klieman to forge his own legacy after the shadow of Snyder.
10 USC Trojans Solid season, but that second half is going to give USC fans "what ifs" until next September.
11 Clemson Tigers I can't in good faith rank Clemson above Utah and K-State after the past two weeks.
12 Tulane Green Wave I had been on the train of ranking Tulane above K-State, but the TCU win was too much to overlook. Still a great year for the Green Wave.
13 Washington Huskies Really solid season, just got passed this week.
14 Oregon State Beavers Really underrated team, a matchup with my Gators in Sin City awaits.
15 Florida State Seminoles 9-3 is a huge step forward for Norvell.
16 Oregon Ducks Solid season, but that Oregon State game is going to give Ducks fans nightmares
17 UCLA Bruins Another solid season, time to see if Chip can build off of it.
18 Texas Longhorns A solid year to build off of
19 LSU Tigers LSU seemed prime to repeat history as being a 2 loss team that gets a chance at the title, but the last two weeks was a collapse that Notre Dame fans have seen too often
20 South Carolina Gamecocks Still had to rank South Carolina after their finish to the season.
21 UTSA Roadrunners Meep Meep. Underrated 10-2 season
22 Troy Trojans What a recovery from the heartbreaking Hail Mary to dominate and win the Sun Belt. The Cure Bowl is going to be a fun one.
23 Notre Dame Fighting Irish Roller coaster year, they just got passed.
24 South Alabama Jaguars 6 combined points against a ranked Troy and UCLA separated them from a 12-0 year. I will die on this Rank South Alabama hill.
25 Fresno State Bulldogs Won 8 in a row after a dismal start to win the Mountain West. I don't know how many votes they'll get, but that recovery gives them some recognition from me.
