Overall Rationale: Now that were past the mid-point of the season, it's strictly game film, opponents, and articles written for the games I either chose to miss or couldn't watch. My "Next 8 Out" are (in no order): Boise State, Illinois, Louisville, Oklahoma State, South Alabama, South Carolina, Troy, UTSA.

1 Georgia Bulldogs Last Week #1 at Kentucky Won 16-6. Kentucky's defense is legit, but it's still shocking that the Georgia that just ran over Tennessee only managed 16 pts on the Wildcats. Heading into the last week of the season, Georgia is where they want to be at 11-0. Rivalry Week vs Georgia Tech.
2 Ohio State Buckeyes Last Week #2 at Maryland Won 43-30. Had another amazing 3rd quarter after so a lack-luster 1st half (was down 10-13 at halftime). They haven't fixed their first half struggles yet, and with the season basically over, I doubt they ever will. Good thing their next opponent also struggles in the 1st half. Rivalry Week vs #4 Michigan.
3 TCU Horned Frogs Last Week #3 at Baylor Won 29-28. This was the game that everyone circled as the end to TCU's Cinderella season the past few weeks. Looked like it was going to happen as well, but TCU's kicking team ran on the field with 5 seconds left and nailed a GW FG on the road to keep the Horned Frogs dream alive. I've been on the bandwagon since the Kansas game, and I'm not getting off until after the CFP. This week vs Iowa State.
4 Michigan Wolverines Last Week #4 Won vs Illinois 19-17. Just like TCU, it looked like Michigan's undefeated season would end at the hands of an unranked opponent, but, just like TCU, the Wolverines managed a GW FG and at this point all you have to do is keep winning. Let's see who is the King of Slow Starts as this week is The Game. Rivalry Week at #2 Ohio State.
5 USC Trojans Last Week #6 at #13 UCLA Won 48-45. After a dreadful 1st quarter, the Trojans outscored the Bruins 48-31 in the final three quarters to win this game, which included a game-sealing INT with 1:26 left. USC with this win has locked a spot in the PAC-12 Championship Game and now wait to see if they play Oregon or Washington there, however before that is. Rivalry Week vs #14 Notre Dame.
6 Clemson Tigers Last Week #7 vs Miami Won 40-10. Complete destruction of the Hurricanes from start-to-finish. I've said multiple times in these polls that they haven't had a week where they played solid from start-to-finish, but that can't be said anymore. Maybe Clemson is saving their best for last, but they do need a little help. Only one guarenteed loss in the top 5 ahead of them (Ohio State or Michigan) then they have to hope either TCU or USC also stumble for a CFP shot. Rivalry Week vs South Carolina.
7 Tennessee Volunteers Last Week #5 at South Carolina Lost 38-63. I was in a pickle here with Tennessee destorying LSU earlier this season, but losing their starting QB + lost to an unranked team by 3+ TDs is terrible. For now I have the Volunteers at #7, but they could stumble in the next rankings or the Conference Championship Rankings. Rivalry Week at Vanderbilt.
8 LSU Tigers Last Week #8 vs UAB Won 41-10. LSU's in a unique position as they hold their own destiny over the two teams above them. If they win out (beating Georgia in the SEC Championship), then there's no way the CFP committee keeps them out of the top 4. Very tough hill to climb though, for now. Rivalry Week at Texas A&M.
9 Oregon Ducks Last Week #12 vs #15 Utah Won 20-17. Oregon doesn't have the same luxury as LSU. They got blown out Week 1 then lost a heartbreaker to Washington. You can make the argument for a 2-loss Oregon team over a 1-loss Clemson, but I feel as if the CFP committee will still roll with the P5 champ with fewer losses. The Ducks held strong in the win over Utah, and can clinch a PAC12 Championship spot this week. Rivalry Week at #21 Oregon State.
10 Alabama Crimson Tide Last Week #10 vs Austin Peay Won 34-0. No offense to Bama fans, but honestly just happy we won't see the Tide in the CFP this season. Nice little changeup this year, but the last time Alabama missed an SEC team still won the Championship (LSU). Rivalry Week vs Auburn.
11 Washington Huskies Last Week #14 vs Colorado Won 54-7. The Huskies slammed Colorado by 7 TDs and kept their PAC12 Championship and very, very slim CFP dreams alive. They are the last team with an actual chance to make the CFP but need a lot of help (Oregon State to beat Oregon; Washington to beat USC in PAC12 CG; Clemson + LSU to lose; then hope the CFP committee picks them over the Ohio State-Michigan loser). Rivalry Week at Washington State.
12 North Carolina Tar Heels Last Week #9 vs Georgia Tech Lost 17-21. Still giving them respect for their record, but they are officially done after dropping this game. Rivalry Week vs NC State.
13 Penn State Nittany Lions Last Week #16 at Rutgers Won 55-10. Solid win over a mediocre (at best) opponent. Rivalry Week vs Michigan State.
14 Notre Dame Fighting Irish Last Week #17 vs Boston College Won 44-0. Continues their amazing turnaround, and now head into the last week in the top 15. Rivalry Week at #5 USC.
15 Florida State Seminoles Last Week #18 vs Louisiana Won 49-17. Strong year after most thought they were going to miss a bowl this season. Rivalry Week vs Florida.
16 Ole Miss Rebels Last Week #11 at Arkansas Lost 27-42. All I can say is this is a pretty disappointing end when (if they won) they still had SEC Championship hopes. Rivalry Week vs Mississippi State (this is my upset pick of the week).
17 Tulane Green Wave Last Week #20 vs SMU Won 59-24. Once again the Green Wave control their own destiny for the NY6 G5 spot, all they have to do is get past. Rivalry Week at #24 Cincinnati (Tulane is my lock of the week to win).
18 UCLA Bruins Last Week #13 vs #6 USC Lost 45-48. Put up a great fight, but feel just a little short. Rivalry Week at California.
19 Kansas State Wildcats Last Week #21 at West Virginia Won 48-31. Because they lost to Texas, they still need to win this week to clinch a spot in the Big 12 Championship, so their work isn't quite finished yet at a revenge game vs TCU. Rivalry Week vs Kansas.
20 Utah Utes Last Week #15 at #12 Oregon Lost 17-20. They almost completed their comeback after the week 1 disappointing loss to Florida, but feel 3 pts short. "Rivalry" Week at Colorado.
21 Oregon State Beavers Last week #22 at Arizona State Won 31-7. The Beavers are 8-3 rolling into Rivalry Week with a chance at playing spoilers. Rivalry Week vs #9 Oregon.
22 UCF Knights Last Week #19 vs Navy Lost 14-17. After climbing back to the top of the American standings last week beating Tulane, the Knights immediately fall back down at the hands of Navy. Luckily Cincinnati & Tulane play this week, so win and they are in the American Championship. Rivalry Week at USF.
23 Coastal Carolina Chanticleers Last Week #23 at Virginia CANCELLED. Would just like to pay my respects to the Virginia families and their teammates after the tragedy that happened on campus. Something has to change. This Week at James Madison.
24 Cincinnati Bearcats Last Week #25 at Temple Won 23-3. I don't like this Bearcats team, but they just won't quit. Have a chance for both the American Championship and NY6 Bowl Spot on the line this week. Rivalry Week vs #17 Tulane.
25 Texas Longhorns Last Week NR at Kansas Won 55-14. Every time they lose this season, they have a nice bounceback win to hop back into the top 25, are they back...(lol jk). Rivalry Week vs Baylor.
