Ballot Type: Human
Submitted: Nov. 21, 2022, 4:13 p.m.
Overall Rationale: Doing my best to make a resume-based poll.
Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Georgia Bulldogs | Wins over Oregon and Tennessee, and running through an improved SEC East keep UGA in possession of the top spot. |
| TCU Horned Frogs | Ranking the Big 12 is tough b/c all of the teams beat up on each other so they all have like 3-4 losses, this means that TCU has no signature "Top 10" win to point to. What TCU does have though is an undefeated record in the hardest week-to-week conference in the country, which more than makes them deserving of the Number 2 spot. |
| Ohio State Buckeyes | Like all the other cool kids, the Buckeyes got a little sweaty on Saturday. The Notre Dame win is looking better, and so is the Iowa one (lol). Not sure if the winner of "The Game" will leapfrog (sorry, I had to) TCU next week...TBD. |
| Michigan Wolverines | I mean, say what you want: "Weak-ass schedule" "No downfield passing game" "You can't win kicking field goals" but Michigan keeps winning. For my money they are clearly the weakest of the undefeated teams both in terms of resume and eye-test, but you know Rivalry Games (Especially "The Game") are different. I wouldn't be surprised to be waking up Sunday, Nov 27 saying to myself "Michigan did it again." (also wouldn't be surprised if they lose by 30)...you'll hear it all week, but Corum's health is paramount. |
| USC Trojans | A SIG WIN!!!! FOR USC!!! Welcome to the playoff conversation and the Top 5. |
| Clemson Tigers | Try as you might, but Clemson hanging around in the Top 10 is inevitable. |
| Tennessee Volunteers | We all kind of knew it was coming, didn't we? The wins over LSU and Bama keep UT as my highest ranked 2-loss team. Just happy that the Vandy game stakes and dynamics are back and in full force (Anchor down baby). |
| LSU Tigers | They dodged the UAB trap, now comes the Jimbo one. Who wouldn't want to spend Thanksgiving with Brian Kelley and Jimbo??? |
| Washington Huskies | Washington being here feels weird, and I'm not sure if I agree with myself...but Oregon should be ranked up here, and Washington beat them (in Eugene) so here are the Huskies I guess. |
| Oregon Ducks | Wins over Utah and UCLA are better than anything the other 2-loss teams have to offer. |
| Alabama Crimson Tide | I might be a h8er, I can admit that. In my defense though, where are Bama's good wins? Ole Miss? Texas? TX A&M??? The strongest aspect of their resume is that their only losses are to Top 10 teams *whispers: They're literally just Penn State....but they might lose to Auburn* |
| Penn State Nittany Lions | I put Bama ahead of the lions b/c Penn State has legitimately not defeated anyone of note, like no wins over any team in my Top 25 (or any other). The strongest win is Purdue? But hey, that win total over cashed....WE ARE. |
| Coastal Carolina Chanticleers | The lowest of the 1-loss teams. BUT THEY SHOULD BE (and are in my rankings) THE HIGHEST G5 TEAM. Keep winning Baja cocks. |
| Cincinnati Bearcats | Default Cincy-is-good-in-the-American-Top-20-Ranking |
| Tulane Green Wave | Take that SMU. Felt wrong to separate the Waves and the Cats ahead of their big game. |
| North Carolina Tar Heels | Will the real UNC please stand up? Oh, a loss to GaTech? There they are!!! |
| UTSA Roadrunners | Best team in CUSA, take a bow!! |
| Troy Trojans | OOOOOO I can't wait for their game with Coastal. I love Troy, I'll say it. |
| Notre Dame Fighting Irish | Best team in the ACC. If they hadn't mucked around with Marshall and Stanford they'd be firmly in the playoff hunt...oh well. |
| UCLA Bruins | Put up a decent fight, almost destroyed the Pac-12's hopes, still have wins over Washington, South Alabama, and Utah. |
| Kansas State Wildcats | The only other Big 12 team ranked besides TCU (cause they all kill each other!!!). KSU keeps fighting, and (mostly) winning. |
| South Alabama Jaguars | Look, I like the SBC; and there's nothing wrong with that. It's a damn good conference, and this team has only lost to Troy (hearteyes) and UCLA. |
| Florida State Seminoles | Welcome to the rankings FSU!!! Maybe a week too late, but I got ya in. |
| Utah Utes | The win over USC keeps the Utes here...that's pretty much it. |
| Ole Miss Rebels | I debated over Ole Miss and Oregon State for a long time. I went with the Groves because.....i dunno, their win over Troy is better than the Beavs win over Boise St, and the SEC is better week-to-week than the Pac-12. |
