Overall Rationale: Now that were past the mid-point of the season, it's strictly game film, opponents, and articles written for the games I either chose to miss or couldn't watch. My "Next 8 Out" are (in no order): Duke, Illinois, Liberty, Minnesota, NC State, Texas, Troy, UTSA
Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Georgia Bulldogs | Last Week #1 at Mississippi State Won 45-19. Another dominating defensive performance by the Bulldogs as they allowed the Bulldogs to only score 19 points while the Bulldogs offense dropped 45 on the Bulldogs. Go Bulldogs. This Week at Kentucky. |
| Ohio State Buckeyes | Last Week #2 vs Indiana Won 56-14. Ohio State beat yet another cupcake, and won by 6 TDs. This Week at Maryland. |
| TCU Horned Frogs | Last Week #3 at #22 Texas Won 17-10. Never thought I would see TCU win while scoring under 20 pts, but the Horned Frogs defense stood strong this past week. This Week at Baylor. |
| Michigan Wolverines | Last Week #4 vs Nebraska Won 34-3. Not much to say. Another easy win for the Wolverines. This Week vs Illinois. |
| Tennessee Volunteers | Last Week #6 vs Missouri Won 66-24. The Volunteers took out all of their frustration on the team that almost upset Georgia. This Week at South Carolina. |
| USC Trojans | Last Week #9 vs Colorado Won 55-17. Took care of business before a rivalry game. This Week at #13 UCLA. |
| Clemson Tigers | Last Week #10 vs Louisville Won 31-16. The only reason the moved up is because three teams in front of them lost. They haven't play a complete game all season, and somehow are still 9-1. This Week vs Miami (this is my upset pick of the week). |
| LSU Tigers | Last Week #11 at Arkansas Won 13-10. If Arkansas makes the QB change earlier, then we are probably talking about how LSU got upset this week, however LSU's defense (along with their amazing freshman safety) held strong last week. This Week vs UAB. |
| North Carolina Tar Heels | Last Week #12 at Wake Forest Won 36-34. Somehow UNC keeps winning, and with Alabama finally eliminated from the SEC Championship Game contention, there's no reason to put them under the Tide. I think UNC is the last team with a realistic change of making the CFP (unless chaos happens) and they have a favorable schedule to do so (until the ACC Championship Game). This Week vs Georgia Tech. |
| Alabama Crimson Tide | Last Week #13 at #7 Ole Miss Won 30-24. A bittersweet comeback win as Alabama found out they were eliminated from the SEC Championship Game with LSU's win. The Tide are playing for pride and chaos the rest of the way. This Week vs Austin Peay. |
| Ole Miss Rebels | Last Week #7 vs #13 Alabama Lost 24-30. A halftime, you could see the Rebels making their way to the SEC Championship Game with LSU-Arkansas tied and them leading the Tide big. However, they are two halves to every game, and the Rebels will fall short once again. This Week at Arkansas. |
| Oregon Ducks | Last Week #5 vs #20 Washington Lost 34-37. The PAC-12 loves to beat each other up, and I believe they have successfully knocked each other out of CFP contention this week. Heartbreaking 3-pt loss for the Ducks, but at least they still have PAC-12 championship hopes. This Week vs #15 Utah. |
| UCLA Bruins | Last Week #8 vs Arizona Lost 28-34. This has "looked over for a rival" loss written all over it. UCLA came apart last week at home vs an inferior Arizona team, and now it's Cinderella dreams are pretty much over. One good note is that they can knock out a rival this week from CFP contention as well. This Week vs #6 USC (this is my lock of the week to win). |
| Washington Huskies | Last Week #20 at #5 Oregon Won 37-34. Penix Jr. is a top 5 QB in the nation and I don't care what anyone has to say really. He led the Huskies to an unbelieveable win at Oregon last week, but they still need a lot of help (Oregon, USC, Utah all to lose one more time) to have a chance at the PAC-12 Championship. This Week vs Colorado. |
| Utah Utes | Last Week #14 vs Stanford Won 42-7. I feel bad for Utah fans because for the second straight week they have won (this time by 35 points) and they still fall in my poll. Washington's upset win has provided a lot of chaos in the PAC-12 and lets see if the Utes can capitalize on it this week. This Week at #12 Oregon. |
| Penn State Nittany Lions | Last Week #16 vs Maryland Won 30-0. Not much to say, all-around great game. This Week at Rutgers. (This is the part of the poll where my responses will probably be single sentences). |
| Notre Dame Fighting Irish | Last Week #21 vs Navy Won 35-32. The option game the Fighting Irish a scare, but another win against a long time rivals pushes them farther up my rankings. This Week vs Boston College. |
| Florida State Seminoles | Last Week #25 at Syracuse Won 38-3. Probably the most shocking win of the week. Florida State continues to beat up on unranked ACC opponents. This Week vs Louisiana. |
| UCF Knights | Last Week NR at #15 Tulane Won 38-31. UCF reclaims their spot at the top of the G5 rankings with a solid win over Tulane. This Week vs Navy. |
| Tulane Green Wave | Last Week #15 vs UCF Lost 31-38. A great run for the Green Wave, and now they need help from UCF losing in the last couple of weeks if they want a shot at a NY6 Bowl. This Week vs SMU. |
| Kansas State Wildcats | Last Week #23 at Baylor Won 31-3. A great bounce back win for the Wildcats as they once again hold their own destiny for the Big 12 Championship Game. This Week at West Virginia. |
| Oregon State Beavers | Last Week NR vs California Won 38-10. Every time they get ranked they play one of the top PAC-12 teams, but good thing is they matchup is two weeks away. This Week at Arizona State. |
| Coastal Carolina Chanticleers | Last Week NR vs Southern Miss Won 26-23. Southern Miss runs a tricky offense, but Coastal Carolina pulls out the win and improves to 9-1 on the season. Still trying to catch the American teams for best G5 school. This Week at Virginia. |
| Oklahoma State Cowboys | Last Week NR vs Iowa State Won 20-14. The last 5 weeks the Cowboys have been disappointing and I thought they were going to drop another one last week, but pulled out the win. This Week at Oklahoma. |
| Cincinnati Bearcats | Last Week NR vs East Carolina Won 27-25. Cincinnati has been the Clemson of G5 schools, they haven't put together a complete game this season, yet they are still winning games. 8-2 heading with a big date vs Tulane in two weeks. This Week at Temple. |
