Ballot Type: Human

Overall Rationale: As usual, undefeated teams go to the top. As long as you have a 0 in the loss column, you can only honestly be compared to other undefeated teams. From there, we look at ranked wins, record, head to head, margin and quality of losses, and some other subjective factors.
Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Georgia Bulldogs | Tier Georgia |
| Ohio State Buckeyes | Tier 1 |
| Michigan Wolverines | Tier 1 |
| TCU Horned Frogs | Tier 1 |
| Tennessee Volunteers | Tier 2 |
| USC Trojans | Tier 2, there's really no one else to catapult to #6 right now since all those teams I had ranked ahead of USC lost, or have worse records. They have also managed to find some control to games in a way they hadn't a couple weeks ago, and they are deserving of a Top 10 spot. |
| LSU Tigers | Tier 2, Best resume of pretty much anyone, only one bad loss, the other being a bizarre & iconic fluke, with wins over Alabama, Ole Miss, and clinching the SEC West, I've had LSU in my Top 10 for a few weeks now, but they have finally cemented themselves here. |
| Alabama Crimson Tide | Tier 2, Got a Top 10 win, not up to Bama standards, but still one hell of a talented team whose resume is still Top 10 calibre. |
| Clemson Tigers | Tier 3, Clemson and North Carolina are very hard to place right now, because in a normal year, when the ACC isn't complete booty cheeks, both of these teams would be right up there with Tennessee and USC this week, and Notre Dame has shown in recent weeks to not be a bad loss, but the lack of any statement win, how the ranked teams they did play have fared since, they stay in the top 10, but are obviously not in the same class with the top of the SEC or USC right now. |
| North Carolina Tar Heels | Tier 3, Clemson gets the nod over UNC because Clemson has a win over FSU, and has simply played better against other similar opponents. Defense matters. |
| Utah Utes | Tier 3, These next 4 teams are pretty difficult to sort out, because on the one hand you have Penn State and Ole Miss, who have both lost to the two juggernauts in their respective divisions, one at home and one on the road, but have otherwise taken care of business and beaten the teams they were supposed to beat. Neither team has a statement win though (Ole Miss over Kentucky? Penn State over Auburn, Maryland?), and have benefited from generally playing the ass-end of the conference until they ran into said juggernauts. Then we have Utah and Washington. Both have two losses, with at least one of those losses coming by one score on the road, but both have statement wins, which I feel cancels out one of those one score road losses in comparison to a similar team, and it's pretty clear right now that USC is a better win for Utah than Oregon is for Washington, although beating a Top 10 Oregon in Autzen deserves some credit there too. It's a tough call, but I think I have to give the edge to Utah (best win of the bunch, while being average in the other characteristics compared to the other three). |
| Penn State Nittany Lions | Tier 3, Really and truly, Ole Miss, Penn State, Utah, and Washington could pretty much be ranked in any order for me. Going with Penn State in second because their losses are at least to two of the top 3 teams on my ballot, and a 30-0 match against Maryland this week is a sign of very solid football in State College. Big Mo counts for something too. |
| Washington Huskies | Tier 3, Washington's losses are not great and got worse. You can look at the box score and say that "oh they played UCLA closer than Utah did in the Rose Bowl;" however, I watched that game and that really was a blow-out until some 4th quarter heroics. But taking care of business against Oregon State in the shenanigans last week and upending Oregon in Autzen, that gets credit in my book. |
| Ole Miss Rebels | Tier 3, Ole Miss got to where they were by playing the ass-end of the SEC, which is still good, but got their lunch handed to them against LSU in Death Valley, and fumbled the game away yesterday against Alabama, and I'm sorry, but that lack of ball control doesn't get you ahead of teams who can put the game away against a top team. |
| Oregon Ducks | Tier 3 |
| Coastal Carolina Chanticleers | Tier 4 |
| Notre Dame Fighting Irish | Tier 4 |
| UCF Knights | Tier 4 |
| Cincinnati Bearcats | Tier 4 |
| UCLA Bruins | Tier 4 |
| Kansas State Wildcats | Tier 4 |
| Florida State Seminoles | Tier 5 |
| Tulane Green Wave | Tier 5 |
| Montana Grizzlies | Normally I don't do this, but I live in the state, and since Illinois, Texas, Wake Forest, and so on all lost, I at least want to take advantage of the ability to put FCS teams on my ballot, especially when they are hosting College GameDay. I know it doesn't seem fair, but the last two spots of one person's ballot probably doesn't matter a whole lot. Go Griz. |
| Montana State Bobcats | Bozeman sucks. |
