bretticus33 Ballot for 2021 Week 6

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 4, 2021, 12:59 a.m.

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide Alabama is one of two teams separating themselves from everybody else.  Held the Ole Miss offense to under 300 yards and Robinson is making the most of his chance as the Tide's starting RB.
Georgia Bulldogs The 2nd of two teams separating themselves from everybody else.  I'm not sure Stetson Bennett can step up if he needs to, but it didn't matter as the defense was superb against Arkansas' rushing attack and they physically dominated the Razorbacks.
Iowa Hawkeyes Dominated a previously undefeated Maryland.  Still a top 5 defense in the nation and their offense showed much more firepower than they had the previous couple weeks.
Penn State Nittany Lions Beat up Indiana like everyone else has been and set themselves up for a massive showdown for at least the #3 spot on Saturday at Kinnick.
Cincinnati Bearcats Picked up a huge road win over Notre Dame to boost their CFP resume, but their chances to impress the CFP are limited from here on out.  They're 5th because they had the least impressive showing against Indiana between them, Iowa, and Penn State.
Oklahoma Sooners Survived Kansas State, but issues are still plaguing the Sooners despite their undefeated start to the season.  They feel ripe for an upset.
Ohio State Buckeyes The Buckeyes are quietly looking better the last couple weeks.  Offense is lighting up the scoreboard and the defense isn't as leaky.  Ohio State is trending the right direction as they get further into Big 10 play.
Michigan Wolverines Michigan is off to one of the best starts in the Harbaugh era.  Defense is looking strong again and the offense can put up more points than usual.
Oregon Ducks The loss felt like it was coming given how Oregon had looked recently.  Loss felt undeserved given Stanford was kept alive via a terrible penalty.  There are visible flaws in Oregon but this is still good team.  Wouldn't say the CFP is out of reach yet.
Oklahoma State Cowboys The Cowboys scraped by their first few games, but they're still undefeated and have wins over ranked teams the last couple weeks.
BYU Cougars BYU is still undefeated but playing teams closer than they should be.  Coming up next is a nationally televised game against a reeling Boise State team.
Arkansas Razorbacks Dream start to the season got spoiled by Georgia, but I think the loss said more about how great Georgia is than anything.  Arkansas is still a very good team and has a shot at redemption this weekend.
Coastal Carolina Chanticleers Coastal Carolina continues showing that last season wasn't just a flukey season.  Should Cincinnati falter later on, CC is in prime position to compete for the NY6 spot.
Wake Forest Demon Deacons Who would have thought Wake Forest would be the best team in the ACC?  Louisville gave them a tough one and I don't think Wake Forest will blow many ACC teams out, but this is obviously a very good team.
Kentucky Wildcats Kentucky was an under-the-radar undefeated team but they're firmly on the map now with an upset win over Florida.  They're deserving of this job.
Michigan State Spartans Sparty is still undefeated but they're looking very vulnerable.  I would put them on upset alert against Rutgers.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Notre Dame is a very talented team but outside of a big win over Wisconsin, which involved an unlikely string of return TDs, they haven't looked as good as they could have.  Brian Kelly might have to get executing.
Ole Miss Rebels Their hot start came to a thud as their defense was dominated and their offense stalled out.  Not everyone puts up 21 points on Bama but it came after the Tide were up 35-0.
Auburn Tigers Harsin got his first big win with Auburn although LSU is looking very mediocre.  They host Georgia this weekend and need an even bigger game from Bo Nix.
NC State Wolfpack NC State got by a tough LA Tech team and go into a bye week.  Would like to see a defensive improvement.
Texas Longhorns If Texas keeps feeding Bijan Robinson, he'll take them far and Robinson will be a legit Heisman contender.  They have the chance to really put their mark on the Big 12 with a win over Oklahoma this weekend.
Florida Gators Florida is talented but they've lost to the 2 best teams they've played.  Their NY6 hopes will be on the ropes the rest of the season and they'll need to play better than they have against the SEC's top teams if they want a shot at the conference title.
San Diego State Aztecs SDSU had the week off but they're the lone remaining undefeated team in the MWC after Fresno's loss to Hawaii.  The Aztecs are firmly in the running for the MWC title but they're also in the toughest side of the conference.  New Mexico is up next.
Arizona State Sun Devils ASU notched a nice win over UCLA.  Offense has some firepower but the defense is still a little suspect.
SMU Mustangs SMU is undefeated and is trying to make their claim as the best team in the state of Texas.  I think the defense could use some improvement but their offense is great.
