Overall Rationale: The 5 teams who just missed my ranking: Oregon, USC, Army, NDSU, and App State. The biggest changes to my ranking (+5 spots): Iowa State (-5), USC (UR), Buffalo (UR), Oklahoma St (NEW), and Ball State (NEW). I treated my top 4 as if I was ranking for the playoffs. I see Alabama and Clemson in a tier by themselves. Then I see teams like A&M, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Indiana, Georgia, Cincinnati, Coastal Carolina, and Florida as the next tier. All these teams feel fairly equal to me. I left Notre Dame out because they lost big in the second match to Clemson, and I'm not looking to see a third match between them. People have a point when they say A&M also lost big in their one shot against Alabama. I'm going with the mindset that a team can improve as the season goes along, this is not the same A&M team that squeaked out a win against Vandy. A&M invites these close games with the slow pace they play at. I also have them at 3 instead of Ohio State because this would avoid the Alabama vs Texas A&M rematch unless A&M were to make the national title game. Neither Coastal or Cincy made it because I couldn't decide between them and see them as fairly equal. I've had Coastal actually ahead of Cincy the last couple weeks and just now bumped Cincinnati over for them winning their conference championship game. And my last reason for my "playoff" ranking is because I'm a homer and knew that A&M wouldn't make the real playoffs. A man can dream...
