hokies220 Ballot for 2019 Week 11

Ballot Type: Hybrid

Submitted: Nov. 3, 2019, 11:38 a.m.

Overall Rationale: Computer poll for a baseline then some human adjustments, tried to keep all head to heads with same records aligned. Giving a little love to some teams my computer doesn't like as much, but also removing some it does. As always I'll never have multiple teams from the same conference in my top 4 those games will always be settled during the season.

Rank Team Reason
Ohio State Buckeyes (Computer #1: Ohio State)Decided to jump them over LSU with Auburn looking bad in a win and Florida losing again.
LSU Tigers (Computer #2: Penn State) Still a hell of a SoS big test with Bama coming up
Clemson Tigers (Computer #3: Auburn) Keeping Clemson at 3rd even though I know their conference is trash. My computer has loved Auburn all year, but at #3 with two losses it's ridiculous.
Baylor Bears (Computer #4: LSU) Since I won't rank multiple teams from the same conference in my top four I had to drop down the list to find the next highest undefeated team in the computer poll. Last week it was SMU who was #10 in the computer poll this week it went even further down to #14 Baylor. Still though as long as there are 4 undefeated teams from different conferences that's who I'll probably put here. Really debated about Oregon though.
Penn State Nittany Lions (Computer #5: Clemson) Still no movement for PSU, if they win big @Minnesota they could rise though.
Alabama Crimson Tide (Computer #6: Oregon) Wanted to put Oregon here for the tougher SoS, but Bama is still undefeated.
Oregon Ducks (Computer #7: Michigan) Went on the road and got down early then crushed the life out of USC.
Georgia Bulldogs (Computer #8: Alabama) What a huge rise for UGA, still firmly controls their own destiny.
Utah Utes (Computer #9: Utah) I'm very impressed with Utah yet still nervous about the UCLA game since Chip has them rolling.
Minnesota Golden Gophers (Computer #10: Notre Dame) Big top 10 match-up with PSU this weekend. Gameday should've gone there.
Oklahoma Sooners (Computer #11: Wisconsin) I think they stayed the same on the bye week but either way they're still in the CFP mix.
Memphis Tigers (Computer #12: SMU) Memphis now has two ranked wins and should be the highest rated G5 team after Cincy forgot how to play against ECU.
Florida Gators (Computer #13: Florida) Two quality losses are still losses.
Wisconsin Badgers (Computer #14: Baylor) I would really like to have Michigan a bit higher, but gotta respect the H2H plus Wisconsin could still win out and finish top 10.
Michigan Wolverines (Computer #15: Minnesota) Computer really loves Michigan, and I think they've got a great shot at another 10 win season.
Auburn Tigers (Computer #16: Georgia) Computer really loves Auburn too. Like REALLY loves them. But I'm dropping them after a weak win against Ole Miss.
SMU Mustangs (Computer #17: Cincinnati) Got down big in the 4th, but battled back and made a solid game out of it. Still gotta play Navy and Tulane and need to win out and have Memphis drop a game to make the AAC CCG.
Wake Forest Demon Deacons (Computer #18: OU) Wake was actually #27 in the computer poll, but this late in the season I'm always going to rank a one loss P5 team especially after such a solid performance dismantling NCSU.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish (Computer #19: Iowa) I genuinely do not know if ND was the better team Saturday or not, but they got the win I guess. UGA and UVA winning sorta helped them a little.
Cincinnati Bearcats (Computer #20: USC) OK, Cincy. Take whatever that performance against ECU was and never replicate it again.
Kansas State Wildcats (Computer #21: UCF) Overmatched Kansas for sure. I really wanted to rank UCF, but found it a little hard to justify over a few other one loss G5s.
Iowa Hawkeyes (Computer #22: Memphis) Computer isn't big on Memphis even after the big win, but I am. As for Iowa? Meh they'll proof themselves over the next three games of @Wisconsin, Minnesota, and @Illinois.
Boise State Broncos (Computer #23: Kansas State) SJSU gave them a hell of a game in what was IMO the game of the night.
Navy Midshipmen (Computer #24: Boise State) Navy beat down UConn meh. They've got a bye at a good time then ND and SMU.
San Diego State Aztecs (Computer #25: Air Force) Second week in a row I really wanted to rank AF for having two ranked losses or UCF for just being better. But SDSU is still messing around with only one loss. As crazy as it sounds they're not out of the mix for the NY6 especially if UCLA continues terrorizing teams. Shoutout to AF/UCF/Indiana/App St/LT
