_Brazenhead_ Ballot for 2019 Week 11

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Nov. 3, 2019, 12:01 p.m.

Overall Rationale: Binary sort began with last week's top 25 plus fringe teams Memphis, Wake Forest, Navy, Texas, Iowa State, Indiana, USC, and Air Force. SMU, Appalachian State, and UCF dropped out, Memphis, Navy, Indiana made the cut.Binary sort placed Navy too high, Cincinnati too low, and Florida too low. A little bit of tweaking got everything straightened out.

Rank Team Reason
Ohio State Buckeyes Bye week. Most well rounded team in the Country thus far.
LSU Tigers Bye week. Wins over Auburn and Florida. Most well rounded team in the SEC thus far.
Alabama Crimson Tide Bye week. Very close to LSU with regard to well-roundedness. Injured Tua lessens the shine on the offense although backup seems plenty capable.
Clemson Tigers Blew out another inferior opponent. Weak schedule has very little upside and they've had at least one close call with UNC. Still a powerhouse team worthy of a playoff spot.
Penn State Nittany Lions Undefeated with wins over Michigan and Iowa. Close call against Pitt. Looks to be one of the only real competitors to Ohio State in the Big Ten. Good balance between offense and defense but not elite on either unit.
Oklahoma Sooners Bye week. Loss to Kansas State looks less bad with their continued success.
Georgia Bulldogs Quality win over a good Florida team. Notre Dame win has lost some of its luster and bad loss against South Carolina doesn't look any better. Fringe team for a playoff spot.
Florida Gators Good team with a good win over Auburn, but losses against LSU and Georgia. Likely out of being a real competitor for a playoff spot unless chaos happens to teams ranked in front of them.
Auburn Tigers Good team with a win over Texas A&M and Oregon, but losses to LSU and Florida.
Oregon Ducks A close loss to Auburn but have otherwise held steady in the Pac-12
Utah Utes Bad loss to USC but have otherwise held steady in the Pac-12. Best competition to Oregon for that Conference's title.
Wisconsin Badgers Good team that hit a rough patch. Bad loss to Illinois and not very competitive against Ohio State. Still a dominant win over Michigan and a host of bad opponents.
Michigan Wolverines Bad loss to Wisconsin, but dominant win over Notre Dame. Competitive loss to a top-five Penn State. Decent team with positive outlook that continues to dominate inferior opponents like Wisconsin does.
Minnesota Golden Gophers Bye week. Undefeated against a host of bad opponents. Upward trajectory both offensively and defensively through out the year.
Baylor Bears Undefeated but a close win at home against an inferior opponent.
Iowa Hawkeyes Good team but close losses to a top-five Penn State team and a mid-ranked Michigan team.
Cincinnati Bearcats Got blown out at top-ranked Ohio State but have otherwise taken care of business against both bad opponents and a couple of halfway-decent opponents in a decent Conference.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Good team but shaky at best record at this point. Loss to Georgia, completely blown out by Michigan, and now struggled at home to beat Virginia Tech. Not great.
Oklahoma State Cowboys A good team with an odd mix of wins and losses. They rely heavily on Chuba Hubbard offensively. Wins worthy of a ranking but a couple of bad losses keep them low on the totem pole.
Kansas State Wildcats A good team with a signature win over Oklahoma, but losses to Oklahoma State and Baylor, so lacking some consistency.
Texas A&M Aggies Wins over inferior opponents, but losses to Clemson, Auburn, and Alabama. Decent team but need to beat somebody good to earn a better ranking.
Memphis Tigers A host of wins over bad teams, bad loss to Temple, but a good win over SMU. Decent team, might compete for a Conference title.
Boise State Broncos A host of wins over bad opponents. Air Force win is looking better with their continued success. Bad loss to BYU. Decent team but haven't beaten anybody good.
Indiana Hoosiers Blown out by top-ranked Ohio State and a bad loss against Michigan State. Have a 7 wins otherwise against bad opponents. Have shown well offensively. Will need to beat somebody good in order to get a higher ranking.
Navy Midshipmen A host of wins over bad opponents. A couple of okay wins like Air Force and Tulane. Loss to Memphis. Barely sneaking in.
