hokies220 Ballot for 2019 Week 10

Ballot Type: Hybrid

Submitted: Oct. 27, 2019, 11:07 a.m.

Overall Rationale: Continually tweaking things still not going 100% by computer poll, but more in line with it than last week. Will include actual computer rankings in the descriptions. As always I won't put multiple teams from the same conference in my top 4 as those games will always be settled during the season.

Rank Team Reason
LSU Tigers (Computer #1 Ohio State) Texas may have fallen out of my rankings, but doesn't matter to LSU as they pick up another ranked win in a huge division game.
Ohio State Buckeyes (Computer #2 LSU) Murdering Wisconsin would've been enough for me to leave them at #1 had Wisconsin not slipped up against Illinois last week. But my actual opinion is that the Buckeyes are the best team in the country. By a wide margin.
Clemson Tigers (Computer #3 Clemson) People will say they still haven't beaten anyone, but Clemson is still dominant as fuck now that they seem to be playing with the whole disrespect chip on their shoulder.
SMU Mustangs (Computer #4 Penn State) Ok. So. Since I won't put multiple teams in my top four the next few highest in points are left out right now sorry PSU and Bama. Then the next few after that all have losses so I had to go down and select the next highest rated undefeated team. **This doesn't mean I think SMU is currently the 4th best team.** They still have to play Navy and Memphis and Tulane and if they win those they'll get Cincinnati/UCF. Now if SMU wins out I'd be totally ok with them in the top 4.
Penn State Nittany Lions (Computer #5 Alabama) Penn State is just finding ways to take care of business. Iowa and Michigan are solid wins.
Alabama Crimson Tide (Computer #6 Auburn) Nothing surprising here, big game coming up against LSU with the winner probably going to Atlanta.
Florida Gators (Computer #7 Michigan) Kept Florida at 7 don't really have much reason for it other than they've looked like a top 10 team and Oregon had to win with a fg as time expired.
Oregon Ducks (Computer #8 Oregon) Still in the mix for the CFP, if the Pac-12 CCG comes down to one loss Oregon vs one loss Utah the winner should go IMO..pending other results obviously since there could be 4 other undefeated P5 teams.
Baylor Bears (Computer #9 Wisconsin) I have them a bit higher than where my poll put them mainly because I chose to rank KSU.
Minnesota Golden Gophers (Computer #10 SMU) Weak schedule? Yes. Destroying their way through lately? Also yes. Three of the final four are against ranked teams.
Utah Utes (Computer #11 Minnesota) Utterly dominated a Cal team that is nowhere near what it was before injuries. Don't control their conference fate though.
Oklahoma Sooners (Computer #12 Utah) Well. I'm sad that onside kick was overturned because that had potential to be one of the better comebacks I've seen.
Auburn Tigers (Computer #13 OU) My computer poll still loves Auburn, and really a three point loss on the road to #1 is respectable. Almost didn't want to drop them this far, however they have two losses so their chance is done.
Cincinnati Bearcats (Computer #14 Iowa) Bye week bump, I know they lost to OSU by more than Wisconsin, but they didn't lose to Illinois. They have a ranked win according to my computer as well in UCF though I decided not to rank them.
Wisconsin Badgers (Computer #15 Florida) I mean what can you say? They're still a great team they just can't compete on the same field as the elite teams.
Michigan Wolverines (Computer #16 Cincinnati) Put away ND thoroughly.
Appalachian State Mountaineers (Computer #17 Baylor) For a 27 point conference road win it somehow wasn't pretty. Good thing nobody was there to see it in person.
Georgia Bulldogs (Computer #18 ND) Bye week slight drop, but they control their own destiny. Side note on ND, I unranked them sure they have two ranked losses, but no good wins and got dad dicked by a two loss team.
Wake Forest Demon Deacons (Computer #19 USC) Bye week but still actually control their own destiny. Louisville loss isn't looking that bad. Just try and ignore the giant Tiger in the room.
Boise State Broncos (Computer #20 Texas) Bye week but still here because I think they've got the best shot at winning the conference. They're fortunate they've already played Air Force.
Iowa Hawkeyes (Computer #21 UCF) Iowa keeps doing B1G Iowa things. Unranked UCF for being a two loss G5 with their best win being..Stanford? FAU?
Kansas State Wildcats (Computer #22 Air Force) Was a toss up between ranking them and ND. The loss to Baylor isn't that bad and the Pokes beat ISU so that looks a tad bit better. But really they had OU on the ropes 48-23, and while they allowed them to claw back they still won.
Memphis Tigers (Computer #23 Appalachian State) Survived Tulsa much like SMU only because they don't recruit kickers in norther Oklahoma apparently.
Navy Midshipmen (Computer #24 Michigan State) Blew a 24 point lead to Tulane, but did enough to win down the stretch. Side note why the fuck does my computer like MSU so much?
San Diego State Aztecs (Computer #25 Georgia) UNLV is improved this year, but it was a doink off the uprights away from OT. Side note see I'm being generous to Georgia ranking them at #18 vs where my computer has them. Bit of respect to the teams I debated putting here ND/AF/UCF/LT
