Overall Rationale: This week, this one might raise some eyebrows. My method is to take Bill Conelly's SP+ and create "mini rankings" of teams with the same record. So all of the teams that are undeafeated are ranked from best to worst in SP+ and then all of the teams with one loss are ranked from best to worst in SP+. Eventually two loss teams will make it into the rankings. The idea is to shine a spot light on the teams that have won everything their schedule has put in front of them. The downside is that some teams will be benefiting from weaker schedules. This week there is an extraordinary number of american teams towards the bottom half of the top 25. This week, the lowest SP+ ranking that has made my top 25 is the undefeated App State Mountaineers which are 54th in SP+, but 12th using my method (worst undefeated team).Let me know what your feelings are.
