woakley Ballot for 2018 Week 13

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Nov. 19, 2018, 11:07 p.m.

Overall Rationale: Started from prior weeks poll and then moved teams based on the results of the week. Dropping out of my Poll this week were the following teams with their prior week rankings: #17 Boston College, #20 Buffalo, #22 Iowa State, #24 Cincinnati   New Teams this week - #22 Utah, #23 Fresno State, #24 Pittsburgh, #25 App State.

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide As long as they keep winning, they'll stay right here. They look unbeatable.
Clemson Tigers They've had their struggles at points, but they deserve #2 easily.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish ND had a statement win against Syracuse this week. Another team thats had some struggles, but they proved they belong here.
Michigan Wolverines Right now Michigan is solidly on the 4 spot. Big game against OSU this week to see if they stay that way
Georgia Bulldogs Georgia only has one loss on the season still. They aren't at number 4 with Michigan there, but if they win out they might get some chaos their way.
Oklahoma Sooners Oklahoma keeps on winning their games, no reason for them to move yet.
Washington State Cougars Washington State is basically the lone remaining bright spot in the PAC-12 this year. An apple cup win for them would be huge.
UCF Knights UCF made their statement by beating Cinci down on Saturday night. This is a team that belongs in the top 10, plain and simple.
LSU Tigers LSU jumped Ohio state this week for me. Not because of anything LSU did, but because of how Ohio State played Maryland
Ohio State Buckeyes As mentioned above, Ohio State dropped for me. They just havent looked strong in the last few weeks. They stay a top 10 team for now, but just barely.
Texas Longhorns Texas hops up after a decisive win over Iowa State. This is a different Texas team than recent years.
Utah State Aggies Some G5 love. This team is a Michigan State OT loss away from being undefeated and they deserve some love for that. Huge game against Boise this week.
West Virginia Mountaineers Rough loss for West Virginia this week against an OSU team thats better than their record makes them look. Still a strong team but a disappointing loss.
Washington Huskies No real movement here, big apple cup game for the huskies this week.
Penn State Nittany Lions No real movement here
Florida Gators Beat up on a lackluster Idaho team, no real reason to move.
Army West Point Usually an FCS victory isnt very impressive, but beating that Colgate team deserves more credit than it would usually get. This is a very good Army team
Syracuse Orange Disappointing blowout for a surging Syracuse team. This team is heading in the right direction, but they arent quite at the competition level of the top teams.
Northwestern Wildcats The Big 10 division champs have had a strong year. They likely will be beaten by whoever represents the other side of the Big 10, but this year validates the direction that the Cats have been trending in for multiple years
Mississippi State Bulldogs This season hasnt quite gone the way MSU wanted, but its hard to deny that this is still a solid team
Boise State Broncos Boise is their usual top 25 self. Competitive, just not quite good enough to be higher right now. Big game against Utah state this week
Utah Utes Utah has been quietly solid this year. They havent played the toughest schedule, but they've won most of them and thats what counts.
Fresno State Bulldogs Fresno rejoins the top 25. They had an untimely loss a couple of weeks ago, but they still belong up here.
Pittsburgh Panthers Pitt has surprised a lot of people this year. When you look back at their losses, they are by wide margins but they have mostly been against some really good teams.
Appalachian State Mountaineers RANK APP STATE? I think they should still be ranked. A close loss to Penn State and an untimely loss to GSU shouldnt keep this team from being in the top 25.
