Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Alabama Crimson Tide | |
| Clemson Tigers | |
| Notre Dame Fighting Irish | |
| LSU Tigers | |
| Michigan Wolverines | |
| Georgia Bulldogs | |
| UCF Knights | At this point it feels sad because this team might go undefeated while getting left out of the playoff, and to be honest, they probably aren't as good as the 4 teams that will be there. Last year, however, they were. UCF was never going to get the love they deserved by the committee off one undefeated season, and now, this team might finally get recognition without quite being the world-beaters they were last year. I still have trouble finding a loss on their schedule, but as Memphis showed, this team can't just expect to win every week like last year. Good luck Knights. Maybe all the chaos around you will propel you into the 4th spot. |
| Texas Longhorns | I still have trouble believing Texas should be ranked this high since it feels like they're only here because OU's defense is so bad. Still, Texas is one of the few Big XII defenses with a pulse, and they keep winning every week since their stumble out of the gate against Maryland. The way this team's played every game not at the Texas State Fair, though, I'm not sure they can get by West Virginia and Texas Tech unscathed. |
| Oklahoma Sooners | Kyler Murray might be the fastest QB I've ever seen, so they still have a shot at the top 4 even with their wet kleenex of a defense. |
| Washington State Cougars | WSU looks legit and might get Leach his first ever conference title, which seems well overdue. Their only loss is a HIGHLY debatable 3 point ending to USC. The cougs might end up being the Pac 12's answer to the playoff if they can keep surviving all of the chaos above them. |
| Florida Gators | |
| Ohio State Buckeyes | |
| Kentucky Wildcats | |
| West Virginia Mountaineers | |
| Washington Huskies | |
| Utah Utes | |
| Penn State Nittany Lions | |
| Texas A&M Aggies | |
| Iowa Hawkeyes | |
| Oregon Ducks | |
| Texas Tech Red Raiders | |
| Wisconsin Badgers | |
| NC State Wolfpack | |
| Appalachian State Mountaineers | App State's conference schedule was always going to get in their way of a higher ranking, but they are dominating everyone they face defensively by averaging 252 yards allowed to every team not named Penn State. If they beat Georgia Southern this weekend, they'll look primed for a season of going undefeated in regulation play (stupid OT). |
| USF Bulls | This just keeps feeling like the worst team to ever go _____ weeks into the season undefeated. You can just update that until they finally lose. Although part of me hopes they don't when I remember how angry everyone got at the 2012 Notre Dame team. I don't think squeaking by Tulsa and UConn can get USF into a title game like that group, but nothing's better than winning every week while angering everyone who's not in your fan base. I think they might even be angering their own fanbase, though, after these last two weeks. |
