Overall Rationale: My poll generates a game score each week for every team's
performance. That score is based on a variety of factors, including
their strength, their opponent's strength, points scored, points
allowed, etc. At the beginning of the season, teams were ranked 1-130
based on a composite of reputable preseason polls and my postseason poll
from last
year. As the season progresses, each team's game scores are added to
their total score then averaged in such a way that more recent results
count a little more than past results. These averages, plus a few other
small inputs, help to update the rankings and the perceived strength of
each team each week. This in turn keeps the poll very fluid with teams
only being graded on their true resume so far.
