PHubbs Ballot for 2018 Week 8

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 15, 2018, 9:56 a.m.

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide
Ohio State Buckeyes
Clemson Tigers
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
LSU Tigers
Michigan Wolverines
Georgia Bulldogs
UCF Knights
Kentucky Wildcats
Texas Longhorns
Oklahoma Sooners
Florida Gators
West Virginia Mountaineers Both WVU and OU have had their lack of defense exposed in the worst ways this season. I thought West Virginia would ride their high powered offence all the way into an undefeated final week showdown with Oklahoma, but this last week they crashed to earth by only gaining 49 more yards with the ball than they lost to penalties. This may have actually been the most surprising and worst loss by any team this week.
Oregon Ducks
NC State Wolfpack
Washington Huskies
Texas A&M Aggies
Penn State Nittany Lions
Washington State Cougars
Cincinnati Bearcats
Mississippi State Bulldogs
Wisconsin Badgers Oof. For a team that was supposed to be a real contender for the playoffs, Wisconsin looked bad across almost all areas last week. The good news is that they seem to be running away as the favorite in their division. The bad news is that they seem to be headed for another bad loss in the B1G title game against whoever wins the east.
Michigan State Spartans Michigan State just keeps hopping back in and out of the bottom of the poll, and they might do it for the last time this week. They have a decent record, but only have 1 good win (this week at PSU) without any convincing scores against lesser competition. Now that Michigan looks like they're finally on track, this week could either mean MSU solidifying their spot with a win or finally jumping out for the last time in 2018.
Texas Tech Red Raiders Even though Tech's blowout loss to Ole Miss looks way worse than any other team's defeat, I think they've improved dramatically these last several weeks even without their first and second string QBs. Kliff may have had the best coached game of his career this last week when the odds were against him. If the Tech coaching staff can keep putting together such great schemes on both sides of the ball and get back Bowman, then Tech could be very dangerous for the two Red River Rivalry conference foes that have to travel to Lubbock.
USF Bulls This USF team looks bad, but they deserve their credit for finding a way to win each week even when it seems like they're trying their best to lose. I think they drop 3 of their last 5 and play their way out of this spot, but maybe they'll surprise everyone and keep squeaking out 1 score wins until the "War on I4."
