hokies220 Ballot for 2018 Week 8

Ballot Type: Hybrid

Submitted: Oct. 14, 2018, 2:51 p.m.

Overall Rationale: Formula looked a little crazy this week so I went in and adjusted some of the rankings by hand. Still some major outliers like Clemson at 8 and TAMU at 11

Rank Team Reason
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Game against pitt wasn't great, but a win is a win. Helps that some of their wins are still winning games.
Alabama Crimson Tide Slightly overtakes OSU this week mainly for the TAMU and PSU results.
Ohio State Buckeyes Minnesota played decently, but OSU is just too good.
Texas Longhorns I'm probably going to get crucified for this. By points Texas was actually a little behind LSU, but since I won't put two teams from the same conference in the top 4(go fuck yourselves 2011 and 2017) we end up with Texas in the top four.
LSU Tigers Murdered some dogs, Mike Vick would be proud. So is Auburn and GT and Florida probably.
Michigan Wolverines They just keep winning.
Florida Gators Bit of an ugly game in several ways, but a win is a win. I know I know they're behind LSU even though they won.
Clemson Tigers Bit of an outlier here, but they had a bye and so they dropped a little while teams behind them played and moved up.
Georgia Bulldogs Not only did they lose, but four of their wins lost as well. Tennessee didn't though. Neat.
Oklahoma Sooners One spot down on the bye week.
Texas A&M Aggies Ughhh I HATE having a two loss team this high at this point in the season. Part of them being this high is all the points they're getting from Bama, Clemson, and Kentucky's wins. Strength of schedule and all that.
Iowa Hawkeyes Man. If special teams hadn't fucked them against Wisconsin they'd be like top 6. I'm sure that doesn't keep any Hawkeyes up at night though.
Kentucky Wildcats Having a bye week was probably great for them. Will they lose one or both of these next games they should win like old Kentucky probably would? Or do they roll into the game against a likely still pissed off Georgia, who may or may not have a loss against Florida?
West Virginia Mountaineers I was more confident with having them at #13 last week rather than top 10. Anyone can get upset in Ames though, plus TTU, KSU, and Tennessee all won.
UCF Knights Respect finally even though Memphis isn't as good of a win as it was expected to be at the beginning of the year.
Oregon Ducks Big win against the rival. Really shouldn't have lost to Stanford. Overall not exactly a respectable schedule so I manually slotted them nearly ten spots higher than they were in my poll.
NC State Wolfpack BC is a good win. I guess. We will find out this week what the Wolfpack are actually worth.
Duke Blue Devils Duke still deserves some respect.
Penn State Nittany Lions Goddammit I lost so many points in the pick em thanks to you choking kitty fucks. Probably shouldn't even be ranked right now but here we are.
Cincinnati Bearcats Their defense is so good and they're still underrated. Maybe. Schedule hasn't been too hard yet.
USF Bulls lol how is USF still undefeated.
Stanford Cardinal My poll still really likes Stanford and had them at #12, also really likes Indiana and Army and VT for some reason, but at least with Stanford a decent argument can be made for them.
USC Trojans 'upset' a ranked Colorado team. The loss to Texas doesn't look that bad. Idk but they slid into the rankings.
Washington State Cougars Best win is against Utah and that was even pretty close. But they're playing well anyways.
Washington Huskies Should probably be out but they won the random draw of similar teams of Miami, Texas Tech, Utah, Army, Wisconsin, Michigan State, and SDSU.
