Overall Rationale: I DID IT. I FINALLY MADE A COMPUTER POLL THAT ISN'T NONSENSE. I've been trying to do this for at least 2 years now, so I really can't express how happy I am.HOW DOES IT WORK?I'll explain with an example. Every team is ranked top to bottom AND bottom to top (Alabama is ranked 1st top to bottom and 131st bottom to top). Alabama beat FSU, so Alabama gains points equal to FSU's rank bottom to top for the previous week (48) and FSU loses points equal to Alabama's rank top to bottom for the previous week (-1). This rewards teams for beating good teams (+131 points for taking down last week's best team) and punishes teams less for losing to good teams (Q U A L I T Y L O S S). Beating an FCS team only gets you 1 point, while losing to an FCS team loses 131 points.People may disagree with it, but I'm happy with the methodology. Constructive criticism is welcome. Right now head-to-head doesn't mean too much, like with Penn State and Michigan St8. Penn State lost 11 points for losing and Michigan State gained 127 points for winning, but Penn State still has 32 more points than Michigan State, so they are ranked above. I can post a copy of the spreadsheet if anyone is interested, but does anyone even read these things??
