Nathanael-Greene Ballot for 2017 Week 8

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 15, 2017, 8:22 a.m.

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide Alabama beat Arkansas, and with the Fall of Clemson they are solidly #1.
Penn State Nittany Lions Who would've thought Penn State would be #2 this season? The Nittany Lions move up thanks to chaos and the BYE week sparing them from chaos, but they have two tough challenges in front of them, in the form of their main competitors for the B1G East.
Georgia Bulldogs Also spared by chaos and moving up because of it, Georgia held Missouri off to move up into #3.
TCU Horned Frogs TCU now enters the Top 4 after beating down Kansas State.
Ohio State Buckeyes Ohio State is really scary right now, having brutally beaten every team they have played since Oklahoma.
Wisconsin Badgers Surviving Purdue is not a reason to move up, but it is also not a reason to move down either.
Miami Hurricanes I really did not expect Miami to be this good this season, yet here they are.
Oklahoma Sooners After losing to Iowa State just a week ago, Oklahoma moves up by virtue of chaos.
USC Trojans Staving off the tough Utah Utes, USC re-enters the Top 10.
Clemson Tigers Despite falling to Syracuse, Clemson is still one of the most talented squads in the country.
Oklahoma State Cowboys The race for the Big XII Championship is still wide open, and Oklahoma State wants nothing more than to beat out their in-state rivals for it.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Notre Dame is winning with massive improvement from where they were last season, making their game next week against USC a must-watch.
NC State Wolfpack NC State is the only team in the Atlantic Division fully in control of their destiny. They win out, they go to the ACC Championship and the Playoffs.
Washington Huskies Pac-12 After Dark claims yet another victim.
Washington State Cougars In fact, Pac-12 After Dark claimed two victims.
Michigan State Spartans Michigan State held off a comeback by Minnesota, and keep themselves in the race for the B1G East title, something no one expected this year.
Michigan Wolverines Michigan goes to Penn State this week after beating Indiana in overtime, can they beat the Nittany Lions with GameDay in town?
Virginia Tech Hokies The ACC Coastal is still a three-way race between the two Techs from Virginia and Georgia and Miami.
West Virginia Mountaineers With a win over the ranked Red Raiders, West Virginia shows everyone that they still plan to contend for the Big XII Championship as well. though they sit in 4th place in the Conference for the moment.
USF Bulls With San Diego State falling to Boise State, USF cements itself again as the main contender for the G5 Access Slot in the NY6. However, their primary rival for this spot just happens to be their undefeated primary rival UCF.
UCF Knights With Navy falling out of the Rankings, UCF awaits their end-of-the-season battle with South Florida to determine which of them gets the NY6 slot, unless some other challenger arises from the shadows to contend.
Virginia Cavaliers Virginia is ranked at 5-1 at this point in the season. Who would have thought?
Texas A&M Aggies Texas A&M is currently sitting at second in the SEC West. This season has definitely not gone as expected, for anyone.
Auburn Tigers This Auburn team continues to baffle me, losing to an LSU team who just two weeks ago lost to Troy on their Homecoming.
Kentucky Wildcats Another surprising development is Kentucky sitting at second in the SEC East with a 5-1 record.
