hokies220 Ballot for 2017 Week 8

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 15, 2017, 11:07 a.m.

Overall Rationale: Resume based as much as I can. Top four are who I'd put in the playoffs right now, will always be from different conferences.

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide Duh
TCU Horned Frogs Better wins than PSU
Penn State Nittany Lions Doesn't have a loss like OSU
Clemson Tigers Better resume than anyone in the Pac-12 or anyone else in the ACC.
Georgia Bulldogs Next team out.
USC Trojans Win against Utah was kinda ugly, but overall better resume than Miami IMO still likely too high
Miami Hurricanes They just won't die. I'm not sold on them being a top ten team yet, BUT this is also the point where being undefeated has to count for something since there are only eight left.
UCF Knights Yeah, ECU blows, but the Knights are still obliterating opponents and have a nice win over Memphis.
Oklahoma Sooners Got out of the RRS alive.
Ohio State Buckeyes Behind OU because OU spanked them at home despite the fact that I think they're playing better football right now. Schedule is still fairly soft overall though.
Wisconsin Badgers Even softer schedule, but undefeated which is pretty important.
USF Bulls They made a big jump this week and I'm not entirely sure why or that they deserve it, but it is what it is. Ranking 10-20 is always a crapshoot for me anyways.
Oklahoma State Cowboys Quietly taking care of business since the loss.
NC State Wolfpack They've won six in a row. Could make an argument they should be undefeated, but 6-1 and in the top 15 and controlling their own destiny is huge.
Virginia Tech Hokies Moved up a little on a bye due to the chaos around them. Also the win over WVU is better than any of ND's wins IMO
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Moved up a slot on a bye. They get USC and NC State at home in back to back weeks coming up which will tell us a lot.
Washington State Cougars No top ten should get curbstomped by Cal. They still have a nice win against USC and Boise beating SDSU helped a little.
San Diego State Aztecs They had been narrowly escaping some lesser teams and it finally caught up with them. Still ahead of Stanford though because of the head to head. Plus that win against ASU is looking good.
Stanford Cardinal Stanford seems to finally be playing complete Stanford football.
Michigan State Spartans Nearly let the Gophers complete a comeback. So they neither rise nor fall.
Michigan Wolverines Nearly let the Hoosiers complete a comeback. So they neither rise nor fall.
Washington Huskies #22?! Yeah. Weak schedule meant they couldn't afford a loss and yet they lost anyways.
Memphis Tigers Solid win over Navy. Not entirely sure how all the cancelled and postponed games are going to work out, but they could finish with just the one loss.
West Virginia Mountaineers Nice win against Texas Tech. Two losses to top 15 teams by a total of 14 points. Ahead of Auburn for having a better win and not losing to LSU.
Virginia Cavaliers Win against Boise gets a bump and only having one loss keeps them ahead of Auburn as well.
