GilBrandt Ballot for 2017 Week 8

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 15, 2017, 11:30 a.m.

Overall Rationale: Of course I'm a fan of all the chaos that just happened, but it actually made ranking this week pretty difficult. Last week I was starting to feel better about certain teams and now this week I'm not comfortable with half my rankings. Oh college football, you cruel cruel mistress. So let's get to it, Virginia, Kentucky, Marshall, Toledo, and Boise State all just missed my rankings. Biggest changes (5 spots): Clemson (-9), Washington (-9), Washington State (-9), Auburn (-12), Ohio State (+6), NC State (+6), SDSU (UR), USF (+5), Navy (UR), Texas Tech (UR), Houston (UR), Stanford (NEW), LSU (NEW), Memphis (NEW), Texas A&M (NEW)

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide Easily taking care of Arkansas and getting back in the first place spot I've kept you out of for the past couple weeks
Georgia Bulldogs Very strong case to be number one. Both Georgia and Alabama have been man handling most of their competition
TCU Horned Frogs Good enough win over Kansas State
Penn State Nittany Lions Handled bye week like a champ
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Same as Penn State and got to rise due to chaos. Congrats!
Oklahoma State Cowboys Easily took care of Baylor. I don't doubt Baylor has some decent players, but this is the outcome I expected from OU a few weeks back. Very glad OSU is looking like the better Oklahoma team
Ohio State Buckeyes This is not the same team that lost to OU in embarrassing fashion. They've been in rage mode since that loss
Wisconsin Badgers I'm still not totally convinced by Wisconsin, but they are undefeated
NC State Wolfpack Solid victory over Pitt. Hopefully you can hold onto this top ten ranking I've given you with help from the chaos gods
Clemson Tigers Clemsoning
Virginia Tech Hokies Survived bye week
UCF Knights Continuing to look like a decent G5 team and fighting for that New Years spot
Michigan State Spartans Quietly climbing your way up. Not the best win, but it's a decent Minnesota team
Miami Hurricanes Still don't know what to think of Miami. But like Wisconsin, they are undefeated which has to mean something, right?
Washington Huskies Washingtoning? Huskied it?
Washington State Cougars Coug'd it (or however you kids have been spelling it)
USF Bulls Fighting for that New Years spot just like UCF, but I believe UCF is the better team currently
USC Trojans Close win vs Utah, but you surprisingly went up one spot thanks to chaos
Michigan Wolverines OT win over Indiana. You need to figure this offense thing out or you're going to stay down here
Oklahoma Sooners Close rivalry win. Still don't feel confident in the Sooners, so like Michigan, they will stay down here until I am proven otherwise
Stanford Cardinal Like Ohio State, Stanford seems to be on a rampage since losing two games earlier in the season
LSU Tigers Is LSU good? Yes? No? Someone tell me
Auburn Tigers Auburn what happened?? You were looking decent, but then you and your only loss (Clemson) decided to shit the bed
Memphis Tigers Win over my previously ranked Navy team, so you can take their spot. No more MURICA :(
Texas A&M Aggies This might look like a slight homer pick, but honestly 20-25 can be changed around a lot and be replaced by some unranked teams easily. A&M gets the benefit of chaos, beating Florida at the swamp, and having its only losses be the insane loss early in the season and a close one (by Alabama standards) to number one Alabama
