prof1le Ballot for 2017 Week 7

Ballot Type: Hybrid

Submitted: Oct. 9, 2017, 8:36 a.m.

Overall Rationale: I built a computer rating system that takes mostly simple statistics that do include strength of schedule and margin of victory to create what I think is a pretty good general ranking. To avoid weird early season rankings, I added a "bias" score. This score starts with the AP preseason poll and uses it entirely in the first week, and less and less so as the season goes on. The system at this point in the season no longer uses the bias, but may still effect teams indirectly. My system isn't perfect though, so I add my own "eye test" to the rankings is provides. I will never move a team more than 5 spots from where the computer ranks it, as any farther and I think it would be more my ranking than the computers. This week I'll also add the score my system generates as the team reason, to get an idea of what separates the teams

Rank Team Reason
Clemson Tigers 491.24
Alabama Crimson Tide 461.61
Georgia Bulldogs 418.94
Penn State Nittany Lions 366.81
TCU Horned Frogs 366.39
Washington State Cougars 370.74 (moved down 2 spots. I don't like that they've only had 1 true road game so far)
Ohio State Buckeyes 357.46
Washington Huskies 353.76
Wisconsin Badgers 313.76
Notre Dame Fighting Irish 309.81
USC Trojans 291.10
San Diego State Aztecs 289.89
Oklahoma Sooners 264.26
NC State Wolfpack 261.56
UCF Knights 303.12 (moved down 5 spots. Not liking only playing 4 games against meh opponents. I still feel more teams beneath them would beat them)
Miami Hurricanes 258.06
Oklahoma State Cowboys 255.75
Auburn Tigers 244.51
Stanford Cardinal 232.66
Michigan State Spartans 225.28 (moved up 3. Wanted to reflect them beating michigan in the big house. )
Virginia Tech Hokies 230.88
Michigan Wolverines 248.14 (moved down 4. Come on Michigan. 5 turnovers lost?!?)
Iowa State Cyclones 226.64
Navy Midshipmen 216.49
USF Bulls 215.68(Moved up 1 spot. Computer had Houston beating them out by ~.25 points, but I'm putting USF here since they're undefeated)
