Ballot Type: Human

Overall Rationale: Playoff Prediction Mode engaged. The top four is my expected playoff field, in order. Next five are most the likely replacements (mostly in order). At this point in the season the 8-12 is less likely, so I've removed that section. Beyond the top 9 it's a more traditional poll. The CFP committee has shown certain preferences through two seasons, this poll reflects that through the top 9.
Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
1 | Alabama Crimson Tide | All this has happened before, and all of it will happen again... |
2 | Michigan Wolverines | Beat OSU, and then probably Wisconsin and they're in. |
3 | Clemson Tigers | Beat VT in two weeks and they're in. |
4 | Washington Huskies | If they can get through Wazzu and (probably) USC they should be in. If they drop either, then the door opens for any of the next five teams. |
5 | Penn State Nittany Lions | If OSU beats Michigan, then PSU wins the East. If they they then win the B1G I can see the committee still taking them with two losses given the strength of the B1G. |
6 | Oklahoma Sooners | As impressive as they've been, those two losses OOC will hurt when putting the resume up against 0 and 1 loss conference champs. But I think they would still be favored over any other two loss champ other than PSU. |
7 | Western Michigan Broncos | Undefeated G5 team. They'll stay in contention until they lose. Chaos may yet get to rowing. |
8 | Florida Gators | Holy crap. Beating LSU means there may be some *there* there. As before; if they can beat FSU and Bama, and they get some help, they have a chance. |
9 | Ohio State Buckeyes | (Adding on a 9th team) - OSU is good. But their situation, playoff-wise, seems precarious. They have to beat UM and then hope Sparty beats PSU in order to reach the B1GCG. Then they'd have to beat Wisconsin - again. If they can do all that, sure, playoffs for you. But that's a tough hill to climb. |
