Overall Rationale: This is a combination of an Elo system and a least squares system. Teams start with a rating of 1500 and can earn (or lose) a maximum of 400 points from a single game, known as a game rating. The game rating is based on margin of victory, with a 1 point win earning a team 22 points, a 3 point win earning a team about 68 points, and a 7 point win earning about 152 points, with diminishing returns for higher margins of victory to make sure that teams that blow out their opponents don't have inflated ratings. The averages of all game ratings are taken, and the system tries to find the least squared difference between the game scores and the actual result.
