atchemey Ballot for 2016 Week 6

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 2, 2016, 8:55 p.m.

Overall Rationale: At this point, I have not watched nearly enough film, so I have to rely more on record and what little film I *have* watched. Expectations from the beginning of the season are nearly gone, so this is approximately the point where the season is truly in swing. We're 5 weeks in. 8 weeks to go. Go Green, goddammit.

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide No Change (NC)  Kentucky had no chance.
Ohio State Buckeyes NC  Rutgers had no chance.
Washington Huskies +9  Stanford had no chance.
Michigan Wolverines +3  Michigan's defense particularly was on point in this game, and it was a real 50-50 contest.
Clemson Tigers +4  Louisville is an indisputably quality win.
Texas A&M Aggies +2  South Carolina did a decent job on defense, but the Aggies surprisingly did even better on defense.
Houston Cougars -1  A dominating win, again.
Tennessee Volunteers +2  Approximately a float over my previous 25 Georgia - it was close, they weren't too impressive, but they move up a little.
Wisconsin Badgers -4  They looked really solid, and still lost. We learned more about both teams in this game.
Louisville Cardinals -7  They looked superb, even in a loss. Keep it up, they'll still be on the way to success in December.
Nebraska Cornhuskers NC  Illinois had a few surprises for them, but they still managed to pull out the win, with pretty good offense to boot.
Miami Hurricanes +7  This is a little late in coming, but they *are* undefeated and finally have a good win over Georgia Tech - the Jackets had no response.
North Carolina Tar Heels +4  It was a close game, UNC showed that they could go toe-to-toe with a talented team - they deserve the promotion.
West Virginia Mountaineers +10  Only Stanford managed to keep KState below 3 yards/carry, WVU actually has a bit of a defense this year.
Stanford Cardinal -11   1 loss, bad loss. They looked bad a week ago, but still won. They looked BAAAD this week and lost badly.
Utah Utes -1  They only drop a little bit, they performed well against Cal.
Baylor Bears -1  They managed to tie ISU in every sense, but a lot of losses just behind Baylor prevents them from dropping further.
Western Michigan Broncos +5  CMU is a good opponent, and after 2 power five wins, they deserve to move up.
Colorado Buffaloes +12 (NR)  Oregon State isn't good, at all, but Colorado looked very good. Their loss to Michigan is understandable, and they have a number of good wins.
Arkansas Razorbacks +1  Float.
Wake Forest Demon Deacons -5  They were probably too high last week, but they still have a solid record so far. NCSU is a sneaky good team, and they didn't run all over the Demon Deacons.
Florida Gators +5  Vandy is bad, Florida didn't look great, but they have a 4-1 record with 2 P5 wins.
Ole Miss Rebels +3  3-2 is a rough situation to be in (I'm a Spartan)...Still, there's a dearth of deserving teams right now.
Indiana Hoosiers +7 (NR)  They looked unimpressive against the Spartans, but they have a couple of good games. Against a lot of really unimpressive teams in consideration, they are probably not a top-25 team in a vacuum, but they're there this week. On a personal note, I grew up in Indiana and went to MSU, so this week sucks.
Oklahoma Sooners +6 (NR)  A good game against TCU...If they had losses to anybody other than Houston and Ohio State, they'd be out of the top-30.   Next 5:  Boise State, Florida State, Maryland, South Florida, Iowa.
