TheFlyingBoat Ballot for 2016 Week 4

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 18, 2016, 2:17 p.m.

Overall Rationale: Iowa dropped out as I was already cold on them coming into this game. I put my last week's rankings for the teams this week, but some of them may seem a bit off. That's because one update I thought I made didn't go through on the website even though I made the changes on my offline poll. Those discrepancies should be explained in the team reasons though (besides LSU). I meant to drop LSU out last week, but my final update here didn't get made. They were not ranked last week and this week showed why. LSU is a mediocre, one dimensional team. Miami was supposed to be in at 25.

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide Prev 1Alabama is here until they give me cause otherwise. Coming back to beat Ole Miss showed poise on the part of young QB Jalen Hurts.
Louisville Cardinals Prev 11I said it last week in my reasoning, and I'll say it again this one. Lamar Jackson is the truth. Louisville gets the bump I promised last week if they beat FSU.
Ohio State Buckeyes Prev 5They picked up a decisive victory over OU. How much this win means is still TBD.
Michigan Wolverines Prev 6They played Colorado closer than I like, but that's just starting to seem like that's because Colorado is a good team and not that Michigan was playing badly. Jabrill Peppers is insane.
Stanford Cardinal Prev 3I was probably a little too high on Stanford putting them at 3. 5 seems like a solid spot for a team that has played decently competition thus far.
Michigan State Spartans Prev 7I was saying that Furman was not representative of a real problem at Michigan State, and it seems I was vindicated.
Houston Cougars Prev 4They looked real weak against Cincinnati and the score does not reflect how close the game was. Their OU win also looks a lot less impressive now than it did before.
Clemson Tigers Prev 8I messed up my poll last week a bit and mean to put them at 8 after a godawful series of showings. They beat another awful team and they get no reward for it, despite mercy ruling them.
Washington Huskies Prev 9They still haven't beaten anybody yet. Anything higher than here requires others to fall or proof they are the real deal.
Texas A&M Aggies Prev 16They have done well against their schedule the far, but don't have any marquee wins yet. Their first challenge against Arkansas will tell us a lot about this Aggie team.
Florida State Seminoles Prev 2Perhaps this is an overreaction, but I feel like a lot of Florida State's problems got exposed hard.
Miami Hurricanes Prev 25What a massive jump. Five in a row of teams getting a lucky jump due to other teams playing like shit.
Baylor Bears Prev 20Good ol' Baylor non-con scheduling leaves me wondering how good they actually are. They are 3-0 and seem to be decent enough. I guess they are the Big XII's leader in the polls again, at least for a short while. They will get exposed later due to depth problems. Mark my words.
Arkansas Razorbacks Prev 23Arkansas did their job while many other teams didn't. Good enough for me
Utah Utes Prev 21This is an astronomical jump, but it is more so because other teams aren't good enough to be here than Utah being an incredibly top tier team thus far.
Florida Gators Prev 24Some of their decision making is questionable, they haven't faced any challenges, but they've done their job thus far.
Wisconsin Badgers Prev 14Wisconsin went way too high after beating a bad LSU team. The close win against a bad team should bring them down to earth.
Nebraska Cornhuskers Prev NRI've always been high on Nebraska since the start of the season as mentioned in my preseason poll, and this seems to confirm that this season is the one that things start to come together for them.
Tennessee Volunteers Prev 18Did no one else watch the Ohio game? Tennessee looked godawful and will be exposed so goddamn hard during their conference schedule. Or maybe they won't because Georgia and Ole Miss are equally overrated by the rest of the world.
Texas Longhorns Prev 10Texas got shafted on a couple referee decisions, but was also benefitted by others in an awfully reffed game. Regardless, their defense failed to show up, and their offensive play calling in the second half opens up a lot of questions. Texas falls down hard as they enter a bye week before conference play. I drank the kool-aid putting them at 10. They are still a rank worthy team, and hopefully they can answer and remedy some of the problems found in that game.
TCU Horned Frogs Prev 22TCU beat down an awful Iowa State team. They reassured some worries, but this wasn't a real test that answered many of them.
Georgia Bulldogs Prev 19Played an awful Mizzou team way too close, just after playing Nicholls way too close. I am not sure what the rest of the fucking world is on, but Georgia aint a good team.
Ole Miss Rebels Prev 15They can't seem to beat the upper echelon teams late. This to me suggests a strong depth issue. While their starters may be able to hold their own against anybody, their 2nd string is nowhere near good enough to hold up, and the issue will just be more present as the season goes on. Their Florida State loss also looks a lot worse now than it did before.
Oklahoma Sooners Prev 13OU just got crushed by Ohio State at a home in a truly pathetic fashion. They are not as good as we thought they were and because of that they'll probably win the RRS. Fuck.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Prev 12Tough losses to Michigan St and Texas has me wondering whether Notre Dame is as good as we thought. Dropping them out would be a severe overreaction imo.
