Overall Rationale: I have a computer poll that I use to help me find teams that are succeeding, then I rearrange them into a normal order. The complicated specifics of the computer poll I built are as follows:I award points for Margin of Victory (MOV) and Strength of Schedule (SOS). The SOS factor takes a couple weeks to make sense, really every school needs to play 2 FBS schools before it's accurate at all.For MOV, winning by 1 awards 10 points, winning by 28 awards 100 points. Everything in between is linear. I chose 28 as the "dominant win" ceiling so teams who decimate another aren't rewarded too much.For SOS, I add up the wins and losses of every team you've played. I then take the win% (wins/total games) and rank off of that. Teams are awarded points based off of the win% of the people they play, highest win% gets 100 points, lowest win% gets 0 which is equal to an FCS team.From there, I multiply the team's average MOV points and SOS points, then rank the result. As I said, I know it's not a perfect system, so I take the results and rearrange them until I'm satisfied. If you have any criticisms, let me know, I'd be happy to get an opinion on the computer ranking I made.
